The Obi-Wan series is going through a bit of a bumpy ride. A Collider report said the upcoming 'Star Wars' series has been put on hold indefinitely. It also said the crew that assembled at Pinewood Studios in London were sent home and there was no exact time and date information given to them about when production was to resume.  Sources have revealed that Kathleen Kennedy, the Lucasfilm president, was unhappy with the scripts. At the moment, it looks like a better script would kickstart the show's production again. The series, however, has not been canceled.

Ewan McGregor, who played Obi-Wan in the 'Star Wars' prequel trilogy will be reprising his role. According to CBR, the series will be set in the 10-year period between the events of 'Revenge of the Sith' and 'A New Hope'. The site also opined the series would look at the character's transformation to Ben Kenobi.

Earlier, McGregor was on stage with Kennedy at the ‘Star Wars’ panel on August 23, 2019 when the announcement was made. "Ewan, are you going to play Obi-Wan Kenobi again?" Kennedy asked and "Yes," came his simple reply, sending the audience into a frenzy.

The series is written by Hossein Amini, directed by Deborah Chow and stars McGregor. The Obi-Wan Kenobi series will air on Disney+. A release date has not been announced. In the meantime, Disney+ is basking in the success of its recent 'Star Wars' spin-off, 'The Mandalorian'.  Rotten Tomatoes reported a 95% approval rating for the first season. The website's critical consensus reads, "Action-packed and expertly crafted—if at times a bit too withholding—The Mandalorian is a welcome addition to the Star Wars universe that benefits greatly from the cuteness of its cargo."
