Spoilers for 'Snowpiercer' Season 1 Episode 6 'Trouble Comes Sideways'

As 'Snowpiercer' barrels on into the second half of its first season, Melanie Cavill (Jennifer Connelly) has found a brief respite from the troubles that have plagued her rule. But that moment of peace isn't going to last nearly as long as she might hope.

After the sham trial of LJ Folger (Annalise Basso), Third Class is raring for political action against the authorities and in Episode 6 'Trouble Comes Sideways', they decide to go on strike to remind Melanie and all the others in power that they're the ones who keep the train running. Unfortunately, a technical problem almost derails the train and completely derails the planned strike.

Thanks to Melanie's brave efforts, the destruction of Snowpiercer is averted and in the calm after the storm, the train is briefly united in celebration. However, as Miss Audrey (Lena Hall) points out, the revolution has only been delayed, not stopped.

To save her life from an attack by Andre Layton (Daveed Diggs), Melanie is forced to reveal that her contingency plan for the Snowpiercer is to put the most essential people in suspended animation so that they can conserve resources and keep humanity alive. As noble as her intentions might be, that's just another weapon that Layton can add to his arsenal of secrets to bring Melanie down.

For sure, Melanie will go on the hunt for Layton and try to bring him in dead or alive before he can reveal the secrets he has uncovered. Whether that hunt will be successful or not is a different matter.

Her best bet right now is to hope that the crisis will have distracted people from their grievances. But even though the train might be overwhelmed with the relief of having survived such a close call, once the adrenaline fades away, they're all going to be at Melanie's throat once again.

After all, this is Snowpiercer, one thousand and one cars long, going round and round the world with volatile human cargo. And with each mile they pass, the revolution gets ever closer.

'Snowpiercer' airs Sundays at 9 pm on TNT.
