Rapper Snoop Dogg paid a tribute to his late friend Nipsey Hussle a day before what would have been the musician’s 35th birthday. He released the track ‘Nipsey Blue’ on August 14, where he changed his usual rapping style to sing over Dorothy Moore's 1976 version of ‘Misty Blue’, as reported by USA Today.

In ‘Nipsey Blue’, Dogg replaced the original lyrics "Oh baby" and "Oh honey" with "Homie" and changed ‘Misty Blue’ to ‘Nipsey Blue’. This song is an indication of Dogg missing his friend.

Hussle’s real name was Ermias Asghedom and he died on March 31, 2019, at 33 after being allegedly shot outside of his Marathon clothing store in Los Angeles. However, this isn’t the first time the rapper paid a tribute to his late friend. Hussle was the inspiration behind the song ‘One Blood, One Cuzz’ from Dogg’s 2019 album ‘I Wanna Thank Me’, as per the report.

In an interview to Billboard last year August, Dogg said, “After Nipsey Hussle passed away, a lot of gang members that hadn't talked in 30, 40 years came together. They really loved each other as friends, but through all the madness and ignorant bullsh*t they could never get any conversation going. I wanted to have a record that can unify people based off of a tragic event that can lead to some positivity and peace. We all need to be together now: Bloods, Crips, black people in general.”

According to USA Today, Hussle was a native of Crenshaw, but he was identified as part of the Rollin 60s Neighborhood Crips as a teen. The report states that the late musician was actively trying to bring peace and bridge the gap between rival gangs for years. As per the story, he would try to bring together his Crip blue with Blood gang rappers YG and The Game. According to the report, the day he was allegedly shot, the artist was supposed to meet with the president of the Los Angeles Board of Police Commissioners and the city’s chief of police to talk about gang violence and about the ways he could help stop it and help the kids.

The Internet also paid tribute to the late rapper. One user wrote: "35 Years Ago Today, Ermias Joseph Asghedom Was Born. Happy Birthday To The Late, Nipsey Hussle Tha Great."

Another wrote: "Happy Birthday to Nipsey Hussle who would’ve turned 35 today. He was too real for this world."

A user wrote: "Happy 35th C Day Nipsey Hussle Tha Great. Wish you were still here, we love and miss you bro. Forever praying for your friends and family. TMC."

A fan wrote: " Happy Gday to King Nipsey, not a day since he passed that I haven’t thought about him, the impact is heavy, God bless his soul."

Another fan wrote: "I first heard Nipsey in Long Beach back in 2010. His growth as an artist and as a person was on full display from that first trilogy to his debut album. The legend gone but the music will live forever. My generation will never be the same. Happy Birthday to the legend.#LLNH"

One stated, "Happy Birthday to tha Great Nipsey Hussle. It's a celebration of a legendary life, a man of vision, Long Live King. It's Nip C Day, now and forever Slauson Boy. Miss you."
