SM Entertainment’s brand new girl group, Aespa has released their fan club name ahead of their debut single ‘Black Mamba’s release. On November 17, the rookie group revealed that their fans will be known as  'MY', meaning "the most precious friend" in KWANGYA where Aespa's ae version avatars live. The group also opened the registration for their new fan club as they prep for their debut in less than 24 hours.

Fans have mixed reactions about the fandom name as some claim that they could have gone for something more unique. A fan posted, “The fandom name would be "MY" stand for My Precious Friends. I'm coining something unique fandom name  than "MY" like Aesthetic or Aegirine (Black healing crystal) or Ace.” Another user posted, “SM was so quick giving us the fandom name that it’s even so suspicious." Another user mused, “Aesparagus would’ve been a great name!! I dig it!!!”

A fan pointed out, “SM announcing fandom name for first time before debut? :o” To which a user said, “Ikr. While here I am still waiting for SuperM's fandom name” Some users think that the rush in choosing a fan name may have been caused by a recent fandom war in K-pop industry where two groups Stay C and Stray Kids fought over the same name.

Stray Kids was formed by JYP Entertainment in 2017 through a reality show of the same name and STAY C  is a six-member girl group under High Up Entertainment. They debuted on November 12, 2020, with their first single album 'Star To A Young Culture'.Their name represents "Star To A Young Culture". Commenting on the same, a fan wrote: “They probably decided to do it so fans have less time for speculation which would result in another Stray Kids/STAYC situation…”

Aespa's first single ‘Black Mamba’ is releasing at 6 pm KST and 4 am EST on November 17. Aespa, as told by SM Entertainment, will not just be any other K-pop band and they have been teasing the new concept through their new teasers and posts shared on social media channels. With Aespa, SM Entertainment is introducing a brand new concept where the four girls of the group will be seen ‘SYNK’ed with their CGI avatars known as Ae version of the members.

The girls would be meeting “their virtual selves "ae-a espa" through "SYNK", SM Entertainment noted in an official statement. They further said that with Aespa, "You will meet your other ego, Avatar, and experience a new world." This debut song was just foretelling various activities based on the world view. Expectations are amplified as to what kind of appearance it will look like.”
