NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Singer Meghan Trainor claimed in a recent interview with Romper magazine that the NICU nurses suggested her antidepressants were to blame for her son's health problems after he was born with breathing issues. Meghan and her husband, Daryl Sabara welcomed their son Riley in February 2021.

According to DailyMail, Meghan did not have an easy pregnancy journey and after delivery, her child, Riley had trouble breathing and had to be admitted to the NICU. She said, “They kept asking me if I was on antidepressants during the pregnancy, and I was, but on the lowest dose possible, and all my doctors said it was safe and wouldn’t affect him.”

She then added, 'It was really f**ked up. They had no name for what was wrong. He just wouldn’t wake up." The singer then claimed, "It’s really up to Riley when he wants to wake up. I’d be like ‘Really? Can’t you just zap him and get him up?". Meghan also spoke about her anxiety in the initial months with baby Riley though they were able to take him home in five days. She stated: “We kept being like, ‘Uh oh, what’s up with him? Is this what serial killers are like when they’re first born? They never cry?’”

Meghan has also revealed her initial days with Riley on Mother.ly, where she explained, "It was one of those horror stories where he didn't cry. He didn't make noise when he came out. I was like, 'Why isn't he crying?' Then they told me he was having breathing issues. It was terrifying." Further, she added, "I got to see him for one second before they took him away. That was probably the worst part. It was definitely a rough start. But we're so lucky we got to bring him home."

The 'Dear future husband' singer said her pregnancy journey was tough and explained, “I’d gained 15 Covid pounds before I got pregnant, so I felt massive and my face was breaking out with dermatitis, so it was like eczema all around my mouth. I had gestational diabetes, so I had to test my blood all day long. I was over it.” She did not have a normal delivery, instead had to undergo a C-section. "Toward the end, she found out he was breech, so her doctors scheduled her for a C-section. “I was like, ‘I didn’t prepare for this, but let’s rock.’ I luckily didn’t have a birth plan.”

The 'All that bass' singer also expressed how her husband took care of her throughout her pregnancy, “he literally fed me, and tested my blood with me, and would get everything ready for me,” she says. “I was like, ‘You’re so f***g cute.’ I even got foot massages every night.” She also revealed that they didn’t have sex during the pregnancy, “I just felt not great, and like he was going to hurt the baby, but he loved me anyway, and we did other stuff.”

Meghan further said, “It’s everything I ever dreamed of,” she says. “Years ago, when people asked, ‘Where do you see yourself in 10 years? I’m like, right here. But I never even thought it could be this good.”
