MONTEREY PARK, CALIFORNIA: The community was shaken after the Monterey Park mass shooting on Saturday, January 21. A gunman killed 10 people, five women, and five men, and wounded 10 others at the Star Ballroom Dance Studio following a Lunar New Year celebration. The suspect was later identified as Huu Can Tran, 72, who was found dead inside a white van by the SWAT team. The Asian community was distraught after the incident and many celebrities have come forward to address the horrible incident.

As reported earlier, Chester Chong, the community leader and the owner of the studio where the shooting took place, believes the suspect's possible motive could have been related to a domestic dispute. Moreover, LA County Sheriff Robert Luna has stated that there could be more suspects. Luna told KTLA, "Who walks into a dance hall and guns down 20 people?" He continues, "Just like I’m saying there may be more suspects — we think there’s one, there may be more." Rep Judy Chu also told the outlet, "What I want to say to the community is: feel safe. You are no longer in danger because this shooter is gone." Simu Liu also tweeted, "I am shocked, saddened, angered, and heartbroken for the families who have been affected tonight. Please use the replies here to post more info as it comes out, as well as any verified fundraisers for the victims. I'd like to give what I can. Many other Asian celebrities have sent their condolences.
