Outrage after Trump compares Monterey Park shooting to Jan 6 riot and calls Ashli Babbitt ‘true patriot’
MONTEREY PARK, CALIFORNIA: Ten people were killed and 10 others were injured in a horrific mass shooting in Monterey Park, California, on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at a Lunar New Year celebration. The police later confirmed that Huu Can Tran, 72, who was found dead in a white cargo van was the suspect. Former president Donald Trump has now addressed the shooting only to spark outrage by comparing it to the Capitol riots that took place on January 6, 2021.
Trump wrote on Truth Social on Sunday, January 22, "10 dead in California shooting, horrible gun wielding ANTIFA protest against our great police in Atlanta - Nothing will happen to them despite night of rage and destruction. Yet our January 6th protestors, over a Rigged Election, have had their lives ruined despite nobody killed except true Patriot Ashli B. This situation will be fully rectified after 2024 Election." At least 978 people have been arrested in connection with the Capitol building attack, and more than 470 people have pleaded guilty. Ashli Babbitt was fatally shot during an attack and was part of a mom that breached. The people are disappointed at how Trump compared the California shooting to January 6 Capitol riots.
