Simone Biles was 'nervous' about wearing a ball gown for Wedding No. 2 to Jonathan Owens because she's so petite
CABO, MEXICO: Jonathan Owens and Simone Biles are beaus for a lifetime now! Three years after their first meet, Owens and Biles tied the knot on May 6 — for the second time!
The first wedding took place on April 22, 2023 with the Houston Texans player and Olympic gymnast announcing the news in two different Instagram postings. The newlyweds reportedly made it official on April 21, 2023, and it looks like they picked a Texas courthouse as their location, according to USA Today.

Wedding dress dilemma
The NFL player proposed to the Olympian on Valentine's Day in 2021, according to Biles, 26, who told Vogue that she and Owens, 27, had met on Raya in 2020. According to the outlet, the couple invited 144 guests to their destination wedding in Cabo, Mexico. The event was organized by Carena Trampe of Amy Abbott Events, and its many memorable moments were shot by Stanlo Photography.
Biles knew she wanted a Galia Lahav dress before she even started looking for a dress. The one she picked had a wide skirt had flower appliqué, and its sheer, corset-style bodice had exposed boning and straps that were florally decorated. Biles' bridal look was finished with a floor-length veil.
Biles admitted to Vogue that she didn't plan on falling in love with the ball gown during her final dress fitting. Throughout her wedding day, Biles wore two additional gowns by Galia Lahav: a custom Maya dress for the first half of her reception and a custom G-502 dress, the brand's glittering A-line dress.
‘I’m so petite’
Biles was all candid yet nervous when it came to her wedding dress. "I went with my gut feeling and what I felt the most beautiful in," Biles told Vogue. "I actually got a dress that I originally [had] said I wouldn't like. I was nervous about having a ball gown because I'm so petite — but it works perfectly," she went on to tell Vogue, adding that the slit in the gown's skirt made a difference in how she felt in the gown.
"The leg slit was very crucial," she said. "It was to add, in my head, more length to my body. I think this is exactly how brides are supposed to feel: luxurious, beautiful, kind of on top of the world."
Prior to their destination wedding, Biles and Owens exchanged vows in a courtroom in Houston. Even though they were 'technically' already married, Biles admitted to Vogue that she felt anxious prior to walking down the aisle, but those feelings vanished as soon as she saw Owens waiting for her.
"Seeing Jonathan at the altar was a dream. Our guests were cheering for everyone. I was shocked by the love in the air," she told Vogue. Fans and followers around the world have sent in their best wishes to the newlyweds.
