‘The best officiant’

The couple had an extravagant rehearsal dinner on Friday, May 5. On the wedding day, Biles' father, Ronald, led her down the aisle, while her uncle, Paul, presided over the wedding. Photos showed Owens looking handsome in a white suit and shorts while Biles dazzled in a minidress.

Before taking her place in the front row, Biles gave Owens a hug as they stood in front of Paul. The blushing bride gushed in an Instagram story, "Uncle Paul aka gonna be the best officiant y'all have ever seen." Among the attendees were fellow gymnasts Melanie De Jesus Dos Santos, Aly Raisman, Maggie Nichols, Madison Kocian, Jordan Chiles and Katelyn Ohashi.

‘I slid into his DMs’

Although it's not known when Biles and Owens started dating, it was reported that their love story began after the foremer sent a message to the latter on Instagram in 2021. She wrote, "Happy 25th birthday. Hope this year brings you everything you want and more."

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Biles said that she initiated the first social media interaction. In July 2021, she said, "He would say I slid into his DMs." On February 14, 2022, they got engaged. She posted a picture of the proposal with the caption, "THE EASIEST YES. You are all I could have ever hoped for, and more, therefore I can't wait to spend all of eternity with you! FIANCÉ, let's get married."
