Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens plan a second ceremony during destination wedding
HOUSTON, TEXAS: Simone Biles isn't done with her wedding festivities just yet. Days after tying the knot with NFL star Jonathan Owens, the Olympic gymnast revealed on her Instagram Story that another wedding plan is in the works. "We had to get married 'legally' here in the US since our wedding will be a destination wedding," Biles explained in response to a fan's question about a larger wedding celebration.
The upcoming wedding will feature a champagne, gold, and white color scheme and will have eight bridesmaids, seven groomsmen, and about 140 guests in attendance, Biles shared. She also hinted that the wedding will take place outside of the US due to passport delays, saying they were "waiting on a few passports", as reported by People.

Courthouse wedding
Biles and Owens recently tied the knot at the Harris County Courthouse in Houston, Texas. The decorated gymnast shared romantic images of the occasion on Instagram, captioned with, "I do 🤍 officially owens 🤍." Owens also posted photos of the couple's courthouse wedding on his Instagram, writing, "My person, forever ❤️💍 #TheOwens #ItsOfficial."
Though Biles wore a stunning white gown by Selfie Leslie for the civil ceremony, the athlete teased that she will be donning four dresses for their destination wedding. "Kind of dramatic but you only have a wedding once," Biles wrote on her Instagram story, adding that the couple is saving their real wedding bands for the upcoming celebration. Biles also expressed her expectation of a highly emotional event, writing, "Idk how I'm supposed to get through it. I was so teary & choked up at the courthouse ceremony & it was just basic vows."
Inside their relationship
Biles revealed in January 2022 that she was invited to lead the Houston Texans out of the tunnel for a home game in December 2019, and Owens could be seen in the background of her photos from that day.
During a February 2022 interview with Today, Owens shared the moment he realized he was falling for Biles, saying, "Probably about a month in, when we were really kind of hanging out every weekend."
Biles confirmed their relationship by sharing two sweet photos with Owens on her Instagram, and Owens posted a tribute to Biles after her decision to withdraw from the individual all-around finals during the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021. On February 15, following Valentine's Day, the couple announced their engagement on Instagram with a series of romantic posts. The photos showcased Owens down on one knee, asking Biles to marry him. The pair exchanged vows during an intimate courthouse wedding in Texas. In Biles' own words, "Forever and always ❤️ @jowens_3," while Owens said, "I can't wait to make you my wife🤍 I Love you so much @simonebiles."
