'She's losing faith': Julie Chrisley rumored to have had a 'breakdown' in prison as she 'regrets' Todd's manipulation
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It’s called reformatory for a reason. According to sources, ‘Chrisley Knows Best’ star Julie Chrisley has "broken down" while serving her seven years sentence in the Federal Prison Camp Pensacola in Florida. She reported to prison in January 2023 after being convicted of bank fraud last year in 2002.
The Chrisley matriarch is “not doing well at all” in prison and is now blaming herself for allowing her husband Todd Chrisley to “push her into” the fraudulence, Daily Mail reports. It is also reported that she is angry with herself for allowing her husband to give her the confidence that they would never go to prison. While Julie is serving seven years, Todd has been sentenced to an even longer span of 12 years.

According to the source, “She has broken down. She is not doing well at all,” before adding, “She cannot fathom how she will spend years being locked up and feels that she let her family down.”
She is angry with her husband as she allowed her to convince her of their invincibility, as the insider said, “Todd assured her that they would not go to jail and now Julie regrets what she did in the name of fame.” The source further added that as the reality TV star now regrets her decisions while being at the pinnacle of fame, she is also losing hope of ever retracting the judgment of their imprisonment. They added highlighting Julie’s despondency, “She is losing faith that they will get this overturned and she is so sad. It is heartbreaking.”
‘Do I actually want kids?’
The conviction of the Chrisley parents not only rocked their lives but also the life of their daughter, Savannah Chrisley. In the May 9 episode of her podcast, ‘Unlocked,’ Savannah was also found to be despondent about her own future, as she found herself to be acting as the guardian of her niece Chloe, 10, and brother Grayson, 16, she also started contemplating about her own future as a mother.
"I'm in that anger part of grief right now. I'm just angry at everything. And also, after taking on the kids. I'm like, 'Okay. Do I actually want kids? Do I? You know, seeing how much this whole thing has affected us?'," told the ‘Sassy by Savannah’ owner.
Clarifying that it is solely coming from a place of anger, the 25-year-old podcast host urged people not to misunderstand her point as she said, "I don't want anyone to take what I said out of context at all. I frickin love these two kids more than life itself. They are my everything," before adding, "We have so much fun together. I try to have as much fun as possible."
However, all is not desolate as she finds "a little bit of hope" among the children. Savannah shared, "There's little moments to where for instance, like in the car driving to see dad this weekend, Chloe and Grayson are sitting in the backseat, and they're telling me different songs to play and they're sitting next to each other and they're just like laughing and singing and cutting up and in that moment for a split second, I was like, 'Okay, we're gonna be okay.”
In another instance, she said, "Seeing two kids in the midst of their whole world falling apart, headed to see their dad in federal prison. Like, they're sitting here laughing and cutting up and playing with each other and that gave me a little bit of hope that I'm doing okay," reports People.
‘There is no holding back’
Since Julie and Todd’s imprisonment, Savannah’s ‘Unlocked’ podcast has been serving as a sneak peek at Chrisley’s altered life. However, on this Tuesday’s podcast, Savannah teased about the new reality show featuring their family as she said, "I'm so excited. . . In the coming months, you'll hear some fun news about people that we've partnered with. And I think it's gonna be a really fun healthy partnership."
Talking about the show, she explained, "You're gonna have all the uncomfortable conversations," before adding. "You are going to see how we're navigating as a family through having two parents that are incarcerated. You're gonna see how my grandparents are dealing with things, how Chase and I are dealing with things, him and the wedding process, how I do not necessarily agree with it." "You're going to see literally every single aspect and there is no holding back, . . .,” said the ‘Growing Up Chrisley’ alum.
