LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Savannah Chrisley revealed in the latest episode of her podcast ‘Unlocked’ how it has been difficult for her mother Julie Chrisley to cope with prison life. The ‘Chrisley Knows Best’ alum took to her podcast to talk about the experiences of the Chrisley matriarch in the Kentucky prison facility. Julie, who is serving her seven years prison term, is definitely “scared,” however, as the ‘Sassy by Savannah’ founder narrated, “She’s just staying busy.”

'Growing Up Chrisley' star said in her podcast, “You know, like, she’s trying to do anything and everything, take classes and everything known to man that she can do, she does,” before explaining candidly to her listeners, “And you know my mom. Like, she walks in a room, if something needs to be done, she just starts doing it. And so she’s trying to stay busy. Her health, she’s trying to focus on that. I think she’s trying to shield us from a lot of things. Because that’s my mom. That’s who she is.”

Savannah Chrisley's 'life is falling apart' as parents Todd and Julie start prison terms for fraud

Since the reality TV couple, Julie and Todd Chrisley is living a life that is the exact opposite of the American dream, and has been relegated from the life of uber luxury to utter hardships in prison, their 25-year-old daughter is trying to accept the change. Savannah shared further, “So it’s, it just kind of is what it is,” before continuing, “That’s our new normal and it’s so hard because people are so hateful on social media. Some of the things people say are just baffling.”

The podcast host also shared her experience of visiting her parents in prison. Talking about how the “visitations” go with her mother and how Julie behaves, Savannah says, “She just kind of sticks to herself,” and added, “We talk when I come for visitation, and we kind of just take it from there.”

‘They don’t get to talk’

Savannah further revealed in her podcast that her parents do not get to talk to each other and that Julie “misses” talking to Todd. She also said that she has received dozens of letters from her mother since they entered the prison on January 17. She said, “I don’t think there’s a single letter that goes by that she does not say how much she misses my dad,” before adding, “They don’t get to talk. So it’s going on what month are we? April? We’re like three, four, four months in, almost. Being together almost 30 years now and not going a day without speaking to now, going on four months is a lot.”

“I mean, it was tough to see the accounts of her day and just things that she’s scared of or nervous about or just all the thoughts that go through her mind. And not having my dad there with her. That’s the biggest thing,” added the reality star.

Conviction of Todd and Julie Chrisley

On November 21, 2022, Todd, 53, and Julie, 50, were sentenced to a combined 19 years in prison. Todd has been sentenced to serve 12 years and is placed in the Pensacola Facility in Florida. Julie has been sentenced to serve seven years in a separate facility from her husband in Lexington, Kentucky.

The couple was charged with tax evasion, bank and wire fraud, and conspiracy in 2019. In 2019, the pair were accused of tax evasion, bank and wire fraud, and conspiracy. They pleaded not guilty, claiming that their employee, Mark Braddock, was to blame for allegedly misrepresenting the couple's income to banks in order for them to acquire a loan of more than $30 million. After a jury found them guilty in June 2022, the couple filed an appeal.

Braddock, for his part, told the jury that he had a year-long affair with Todd in the early 2000s and remained close to him until 2012 when the two got into a heated argument that resulted in Todd tossing Braddock out of the office. That's when he decided to bring the Chrisleys in.

'You're being an unruly passenger’

In April, Savannah was denied boarding a Southwest flight after an altercation with the airport staff. On her Instagram story on April 20, she shared a version of the incident where she said, "So I went to board my flight, to get on, and he told me that he had to check my bag," before adding, "I was like, 'OK. If you wouldn't mind, I'm gonna take my bag on the flight, see if I can't make it fit and if not, I'll check it.' His exact words were, 'No. That's not happening,” reports E! News

She continued, "I was like, 'OK? Um, let's go ahead and put a tag on it in case I have to check it because I would love to see if there's any room for it.' And he goes, 'You're being an unruly passenger.'"

However, the version that the airline shared was slightly different as a representative of the airline told People, "Our initial reports indicate a different story than the one from the Customer's account, as she arrived at the gate late in the boarding process and repeatedly insulted our Employee after being asked to gate-check her bag. As a result, the Customer was denied boarding on her original flight, and we booked her on a later flight the same day.
