Did Shazam and friends defeat Daughters of Atlas?

In the end, Billy Baston faces his biggest challenge. The daughters of Atlas are a formidable team and it’s really difficult to outclass them. Billy is a new hero and is still understanding on how to work with the powers that have been given him. Most importantly, he needs his family of superheroes to defeat the evil and without them, he’s not as effective as he is with them. He feels really alone when the last fight happens. However, he gets the surprise of a lifetime when Hespera and Anthea help him in the fight against Kalypso.

Kalypso doesn’t just want to take back their powers, she also wants to remake the Realm of the Gods on Earth and the other two daughters of Atlas are not ready. What we see next is a thrilling finale that is filled with glorious action, death, and an uncertain future.

In the fight, Billy is able to convince Hespera that she should lower the shield to Philly and tried to corner Kalypso and her dragon. Billy knew what would end the fight and did not hesitate to take the Shazam’s staff and use it as an electric bomb. The explosion manages to kill Kalypso and her dragon, but sadly, it also kills Hespera and BILLY. Yes, the mortal form of Billy dies in the end.

Is Billy really dead?

The sudden demise of Billy seems to be a very dark ending for a movie that is goofy, but the ending sees the family burying Billy and that particular moment makes everyone realize how important family really is. However, it could have been a perfect end for it because the new slate of movies announced by James Gunn doesn’t feature ‘Shazam’. It would have been the end for the character in this version of DCEU, but things get complicated at the end when Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) suddenly arrives and realizes that she is the only god that’s still present on this planet. Well, the Amazonian plans to reboot the staff and resurrects Billy with its help of it. She leaves with a smile on her face.

The cliffhanger ending makes us realize that a sequel might be coming in a few years, but how? The new slate doesn’t even mention Shazam and we don’t think James Gunn would take a rash decision of including the superhero in the newly revamped franchise. Let’s see how they handle this situation.
