'Holy s**t that's bad': Internet roasts ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ as it bombs at the box office
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Billy Batson and his fellow foster kids came back to the silver screens on 17 March with 'Shazam! Fury of the Gods' and while the anticipation was high, the gods didn’t look kindly upon Warner Bros' superhero comedy sequel, which debuted in first place with $30.5M but -43% behind its predecessor.
While many assume that the reason 'Shazam 2' bombed at the box office is due to all the internal shuffle that has been taking place since James Gunn and Peter Safran took the creative reins of live-action DC movies, there was another inherent element that didn't work, and that is the aging up of the movie's main protagonist Billy Batson from a 12-year-old in the 2019 film to a teenager in part two. In a perfect world, 'Fury of the Gods' might have had a blockbuster opening, but sadly it's not the case.

'Box office aside, is it at least good?'
The Internet exists to simply humble us, and that's what the fans did once they got to know about 'Shazam! Fury of the Gods' failing at the box office. While some shared hilarious memes as a way to cope with the failure, some asked important questions laced with sarcasm. One user wrote, "Holy s**t that's bad," while another chimed in with, "Searching for all the "Real DC fans" who said they'll be turning up for the movie while all us "minority" Snyderverse fans should move on from DC." One user made a powerful statement with, "Weekend aint ovr yet" and another user made an awkward statement attached to a hilarious meme with, "Worldwide?" Another user declared, "Humiliating absolute flop," to which another user wrote, "Box office aside, is it atleast good?"

'It deserved so much better'
While some didn't watch the movie, some supported it with, "It deserved so much better it was a good movie honestly." Another user responded with, "that’s lower than what it was tracking to do." One user just mocked the fans and wrote, "Told y’all we ain’t watching this" while another user stated facts, "They tried for the Austin Powers effect where the 1st movie didn't make a lot of money but comes a hit when out DVD and tv afterwards. But with Shazam that never happen so this 2nd part never should have happen in the 1st place."
