Shawn Mendes broke down in tears and then started thanking his amazing fans and backing crew as the pop sensation's international tour officially came to an end on December 21 in Mexico City. The 'Senorita' singer played an astounding total of 105 shows for his third solo tour in support of his self-titled third studio album, which started off with a blast in Amsterdam at the Ziggo Dome on March 7, 2019, and concluded in Mexico City at the Palacio de los Deportes on December 21, 2019.

Things came full circle for the Toronto-based singer and his crew as this year's international tour ended with a huge blast as well. "Shawn Mendes: The Tour" came to an end with a perfectly-synced jump by Mendes while confetti rained down on the audience during the closing moments of the last song for the night, 'In My Blood'. The singer had previously made a moving admission to his fans before the grand finale of his final show for 2019.  "I just want to say that I get to come on stage every single night and perform in front of the most incredible people in the world," he announced in front of thousands of his adoring fans, who whooped their thunderous approval.

Mendes then showcased his humility and down-to-earth nature by giving a big shout-out to his touring crew as well. "But it's not only me who comes to the venue every day. They've been away from their families for an entire year to put this show on. I travel with a crew of the most caring, most amazing, most talented people. I have my band here onstage with me." The crowd then erupted in a huge round of applause for the backing musicians before Mendes continued, while struggling to keep his emotions in check. "And there's so many people behind-the-scenes that make this show happen every single night. And I just want to take a moment to cheer for them and to say thank you to all of them for putting this show on, I'm very privileged." The grateful singer then led the audience in a sustained round of cheers and applause for his touring crew.

The 21-year-old pop heartthrob also admitted that the emotions of the final night were clearly getting to him."I'm going to be a little bit of a mess tonight, so... I just love you guys so much. To every fan here, keep singing as loud as you can." The enthralled crowd did exactly that, and a visibly dewy-eyed Shawn could be seen rubbing tears from his eyes during the final moments of the set. He also took to Twitter to post a personal thank you message to his fans following his unbelievable world tour, calling himself "the luckiest kid on the entire planet."

Shawn Mendes has had an incredibly successful year - he became the first male artist to top both the Billboard pop songs and adult pop songs charts simultaneously with two different songs. His massive international tour spanned nine months and 105 dates, including 27 shows in Europe, 49 in North America, 11 in Latin America, and nine shows each for both Asia and Oceania respectively. Here's hoping that his 2020 tour is just as massive and groundbreaking for him and his loyal fans.
