'We treasure our art': Sharon Stone hops on the drama train to slam Kim Kardashian's casting in 'American Horror Story' Season 12
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kim Kardashian has the prospect of having it all! The reality TV star and beauty mogul, stunned everyone a few weeks ago when she revealed that she will be joining actress Emma Roberts for 'American Horror Story' Season 12.
After Broadway legend Patti LuPone expressed her displeasure with Kim Kardashian's appearance in Ryan Murphy's FX series, actress Sharon Stone has become the latest celebrity to criticize the beauty mogul for breaking into the acting world.

‘We do treasure our art’
Sharon Stone commented on Access Hollywood's post about how Patti LuPone was not holding back from expressing her dissatisfaction with Kim being cast in 'American Horror Story' Season 12. She wrote, "Well… you know… acting. It may not be brain surgery but We do treasure our art. We studied, we suffered, and we do suffer for it. Ten thousand hours; it’s a thing."
Stone mentioned author Malcolm Gladwell's thesis, which he stated in his 2008 book 'Outliers: The Story of Success', explaining that success in any skill requires 10,000 hours of practice. Patti LuPone appeared on 'Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen' most recently and conveyed her thoughts on Kim's casting on the show.
Cohen asked LuPone if she was aware of it, to which she replied "yes" while making a face, prompting Cohen to ask her if she opposed it, to which she replied "yes." The 'Beau is Afraid' star claimed that Kim's casting in 'American Horror Story' is akin to taking a role away from actors.
She continued, "Excuse me, and excuse me, Kim. What are you doing with your life? Don’t get on the stage, Mrs. Worthington." LuPone referred to Noel Coward's 1935 song ‘Don't Put Your Daughter On The Stage, Mrs. Worthington’ who pushes for her unattractive and untalented daughter to be a stage performer. John Leguizamo, who sat next to Patti during the interview, quipped in response, "Whatever she said, I double the emotion!"
Is Sharon Stone threatened by Kim Kardashian’s newfound fame in acting?
Some fans have highlighted that Stone's bitter words attempting to discredit Kim, who has appeared in a couple of projects in which she has played minor roles, come across as envious or threatened by the reality TV star's newly acquired fame in the world of acting. The beauty mogul went on to wow fans around the world with her hosting gig at 'Saturday Night Live' in 2021, and it's not surprising that the reality TV star is looking towards expanding her working horizons.
Of course, there is no contrast between Stone and Kardashian, but simply because the latter is recognized for being a reality TV star does not imply that she is not ready to put in the effort to accomplish new things in life. Kim's brief acting career in films such as 'Disaster Movie', 'Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor', 'Dash Dolls', and 'PAW Patrol: The Movie' can be seen as an opportunity for her to do better, specifically now that she is aware that she may be mocked. Kim has grown over the years and maybe this acting gig will help her establish a concrete footing in the acting world.
Co-creator Ryan Murphy said in a statement, “Kim is among the biggest and brightest television stars in the world and we are thrilled to welcome her to the AHS family. Emma and I are excited about collaborating with this true force in the culture. Halley Feiffer has written a fun, stylish and ultimately terrifying role especially for Kim, and this season is ambitious and unlike anything we have ever done," as per The Hollywood Reporter. The maker and the reality TV star have been friends for a while and he was impressed with Kim’s hosting at SNL after which he started crafting a unique role for her.
There currently is little indication of what kind of role Kim will play in 'American Horror Story', but it seems like it will be appropriate because it has been created especially for her. Fans commented on the internet that it is fascinating to see how she decides on a new challenge, even though she has previously acted.
