'Shark Tank': Here's why The Players Trunk turned down Mark Cuban and Kevin Hart's $650K offer
From going to games to buying merch and more, fans certainly go all out to support their favourite athletes. And while merch is available everywhere, it's not always easy to get your hands on authentic stuff. But what if you could directly purchase from the athletes themselves? Enter The Players Trunk, "a platform for athletes to sell their game used gear, merchandise, autographed collectibles and experiences to their passionate fans."
While fans' support has been pouring in, can the brand bag a deal with Mark Cuban, Kevin O'Leary, Lori Greiner, Barbara Corcoran or guest shark Kevin Hart?

Jason Lansing, Austin Pomerantz, Hunter Pomerantz, and athlete-founder Charles Matthews walked into the tank hoping to score a $650k deal for 5% equity in their company. Right off the bat, Mark Cuban noted that their space was already a saturated one and wanted to know how they could set themselves apart. When it came down to the numbers, the group said they had made $1.3 million in sales with a $200k profit. Although the company was new, the hustle began from their dorm rooms, and the group believed that this would appeal to their audience further. However, with a $13 million valuation, Kevin O'Leary was beyond sceptical.
The group explained that the valuation came when they raised $1.2 million from a venture capitalist at a $10 million valuation. O'Leary was the first to back out, saying that he doesn't do "stupid deals", followed by the rest of the sharks. Mark Cuban and Kevin Hart jumped in with a combined offer of $650k for 30%, stating that they would be adding a lot of credibilities here. But when the group countered with $750k for 7.5%, they took the offer off the table, resulting in O'Leary calling them 'bozos' and stating that he lost respect for them
Fans were of the same opinion. "Imagine turning down an offer from @mcuban and @KevinHart4real when you don't have a patentable product! #SharkTank" tweeted a fan. "Wait? You want to offer twos sharks 7.5% Let me laugh… #ThePlayersTrunk #SharkTank" added another. "Oh dear. Those college bros that just turned down a deal from @KevinHart4real @mcuban on #SharkTank…" tweeted a fan. "Wow. That moment when #MrWonderful calls you a bozo on national TV. #SharkTank ... #fail #FridayNight #TV" said a fan. "Can you believe they turned this deal down?! I respect the business, but now I think these guys are complete bozos. Stop the madness! #SharkTank" tweeted Kevin O'Leary himself, seeing that he was still flabbergasted by the whole exchange.
