Do you love fishing? ‘Shark Tank’ can give you tons of lessons along with interesting pitches on the show. One such fishing product turned out to be Animated Lure which the investors claimed to be worth over $3 million. Creators Sobhan Sanaee and Kanz Kayfan introduced the company to Sharks Mark Cuban, Kevin O’Leary, Robert Herjavec, Lori Greiner and Daymond John on Episode 3.

The episode synopsis described how they “tried and reeled in the Sharks with their inventive approach to fish luring.” Interestingly, the product struck a chord with the Sharks and they were quite charmed by its use. So what does Animated Lure do? The world’s first self-swimming lure, it is electronically programmed to mimic the life-like swim patterns of a real fish. The benefits of using the product are that it gets families by the water, helps you to fish smarter, not harder and eliminates the need for live bait.

How was Animated Lure started?

“One day while on a fishing trip with my father, my heart felt a pang of pain when my father said he wished my siblings were with us, if only they had the patience for the inevitable waiting part of fishing,” the official website reads. The founder realized the reason a lot of people do not go fishing was “the waiting and the need for instantaneous results” and decided to find a way around it. “Knowing that fish are naturally drawn to other fish, we capitalized on a fish’s biological inclination by creating a life-like lure,” the website further read. “In fact, many people have actually thought our lure to be a real live fish.”

According to the website, Animated Lure uses modern technology in order to get rid of the waiting part of fishing. Kayfan first thought of it while he was still in college and raised money to start his company through a Kickstarter campaign where he collected over $20,000 from 130 backers.

What are the varieties and the cost?

Currently, the Animated Lure comes in varieties of the Mini, the Classic, the Salt Water, the Premium Mini Skin and the Premium Classic Skin. The prices range from $30 for the mini to nearly $80 for the Salt Water lure. Each lure is available in a number of types as well, and as per the website shopping section, all products ship within a week of purchase.

“Our team has integrated modern technology with the timeless practice and the beautiful art of fishing by inventing a lure that both introduces the element of entertainment and the most efficient possible way of luring a fish,” the website reads. They wanted to create a lure that would attract fish in a more simple way that worked quickly. The lure automatically starts swimming once it has been fully submerged for 12 seconds.

How to charge Animated Lure and how long does it last?

After its debut on Shark Tank, the one question on all minds was whether it charges properly. "Did @AnimatedLure talk about how to charge it while fishing and how long it takes to charge? #sharktank," one said.

Going by the official website, Animated Lure lasts in the water for anywhere from 45 minutes to 2.5 hours depending on water conditions and the type of product purchased. To charge the lure, the user uses a USB charger until the blue light turns on, which should take no longer than 1.5 hours.

Who got the deal?

Mr Wonderful aka Kevin O'Leary clinched the deal and posted on Twitter: "It’s not every day a shark gets lured back in after going out, but Animated Lure was too good - I had to bite! #sharktank."

The road to getting the deal was not an easy one. O'Leary first made an offer of $3,25,000 for $3 per product till a million was returned. Initially hesitant, the creators gave a follow-up offer for $3,25,000 for $1.5 per product but Mr Wonderful wasn't quite keen on it. He told them that if they want him on board, they need to go with his terms. Animated Lure creators soon said yes and nabbed the deal.

What is the reaction?

Barbara Corcoran also like the product and posted: "Nothing fishy about this pitch! In fact, I think it's a great idea. @AnimatedLure #SharkTank @ABCSharkTank." Daymond John joked: "Dad joke time: Why is it so easy to weigh fish? Because they have their own scales! #SharkTank."

Many people on the Internet praised it. "#SharkTank Animated lure is great for people who want fish tanks but are too lazy to have to feed the fish & clean the tank! Great for a doctor's office!!" one tweet read and another said, "@AnimatedLure seems like something that will work! #SharkTank."
