MIAMI, FLORIDA: Shakira was accused of having "internalized misogyny" after the lyrics of her new song were leaked online and appeared to poke fun at her ex-partner Gerard Pique and his current girlfriend Clara Chia Marti. The 45-year-old Colombian singer and producer Bizarrap worked together on a brand-new song titled 'Shakira Bzrp Music Sessions 53'.

After 11 years and two children together, the 'Waka Waka' hitmaker announced their breakup in June 2022 amid rumors that Pique had cheated on her. Chia has been spotted with the soccer star on multiple occasions following rumors that they started dating soon after the Barcelona defense and Shakira broke up.

The single, which also features Argentine DJ Bizarrap, reportedly has extensive references to the Colombian artist's previous relationship. A snippet was made public before the song's global release, according to MailOnline. She sings in a leaked excerpt, appearing to make a subtle jab at her ex-partner, “I’m worth two 22s. You traded a Ferrari for a Twingo. You traded a Rolex for a Casio.” In another part, the 45-year-old appears to take a dig at Pique’s new squeeze as she belts out, “She’s got the name of a good person. Clearly is not how it sounds.”

The 'Hips Don't Lie' singer also alluded to her £13 million tax fraud trial in Spain while singing, “You left me the mother-in-law as a neighbor. With the press at my door and a debt with the taxman. You thought you’d hurt me and I came back stronger. Women don’t cry anymore, women invoice.”

However, the lyrics to her new song have drawn criticism from fans online. Some claim that she has internalized misogyny, while others argue that she is simply doing what other male artists do in their songs. One said, "The new Shakira song screams internalised misogyny and a bitter divorcee. let it go woman."

Another Twitter user wrote, "Shakira objectifies and objectifies herself by denigrating her ex's new partner under the phrase 'change a Rolex for a Casio'. We are humans not objects. There is nothing empowering in being mean to another woman. You have to know how to leave."

Another wrote referring to Clara, "A woman who has the right to be with whoever she wants because people don't belong to anyone."

One user came to Shakira's defense and said, "The internalised misogyny is wild. Women using their platform and talent to express their feelings and candidly share their experiences is important and cannot be downplayed. Shakira is doing the same thing countless male artists do without scrutiny. Touch grass."

Since the breakup, Gerard has been seen spotted kissing Clara passionately, showing that they are not at all trying to hide their relationship. It was announced in November 2022 that Shakira had been granted primary custody of the two children she has with Pique. “We have signed a custody agreement,” Shakira and Pique, 35, said in a joint statement at the time.

“Our sole objective is to provide our children with the utmost security and protection and hope that they can continue with their lives in a safe and calm environment,” they added.

The sons of the couple will relocate from Barcelona, where their father is from, to Miami where Shakira's family is situated, a source close to Shakira revealed, as per Evening Standard.
