Selena Gomez teases new collaboration with Blackpink, excited fans say they will 'break their own records’

Gomez took to Twitter on Monday, August 17 to tease the first look of her upcoming track with Blackpink and ecstatic fans aren't able to contain their excitement 

Selena Gomez caused ample excitement among her fans a few days ago when she revealed that she was collaborating with popular K-pop girl group Blackpink. Soon after the announcement, fans quickly began guessing what their favorite musicians may have in store. On Monday, August 17, the 'Lose You to Love Me' singer took to Twitter to tease her upcoming track with Blackpink, which has caused quite a buzz on social media.  

She shared what looks like a picture of an ice cream truck on her Instagram and captioned it, "SELPINK pulling up soon. 8/28". the nameplate of the pink vehicle has 'Selpink' written on it. Meanwhile, YG Entertainment shared a teaser poster of the upcoming single and wrote, "#BLACKPINK X @SelenaGomez- NEW SINGLE RELEASE TEASER POSTER #2 NEW SINGLE .2020.08.28." A link to pre-save the track on Spotify has also been provided in the description.

The same poster was shared by Blackpink on their official Instagram account. While fans of Gomez, Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa are eagerly waiting for their track, no other details have been made available. The song is slated to release on August 28 release at 12 am EST or 1 pm KST. 

Fans quickly took to Twitter to shower the K-Pop band and Gomez with love, thanking them for coming together for a collaboration which is much anticipated. One user wrote, "SELPINK I AM SO PROUD OF YOU. AFTER ALL THESE YEARS OF PROVING YOUR LEGACY IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE, AND MOVING A GENERATION OF BOTH PEOPLE AND WOMEN TO BECOME JUST LIKE YOU, YOU HAVE OBTAINED THE MOST ANTICIPATED COLLAB WHICH YOU ARE SO LONG OVERDUE FOR."

Another added, "SELPINK I AM SO PROUD OF YOU. WE FIGHT, WE MARCH, WE AIM FOR #1. WE WILL STRIVE, HOW YOU LIKE THAT BLINKS? SELENATORS AND BLINKS UNITE. SELPINK IS COMING. SELPINK IS THE FUTURE. SELPINK IS HERE. WE NOW WAIT FOR THE COLLAB OF THE CENTURY!"

Fans have been counting days to witness one of the biggest collaborations of all time. "Just realised that exactly 10 days from today, @blackpink will break their own records with @selenagomez and i can't wait for it." read a tweet. 

Adding to the previous tweet, another thrilled fan wrote on Twitter, "TODAY IS ONE OF THE AMAZING DAY FOR ARMYBLINKS! I CAN'T WAIT FOR SELPINK and ACTRESS JISOO! also CONGRATS to MY BTS! + I CAN'T WAIT FOR DYNAMITE MV TEASER TONIGHT! LETS GO FOR IT KINGS and QUEENS"

Although music lovers are looking forward to Gomez and Blackpink coming together when the news regarding the same first broke, a few Twitter users were seen discussing how they would rather have a different artiste collaborate with Blackpink. A significant number of them noted that they would like to Taylor Swift in Gomez's place, while some wondered if their friendship would help Taylor collaborate with the K-Pop band. One user had tweeted, "WILL WE GET TAYLOR SWIFT X BLACKPINK LATERRRR?!!! selena is close with taylor rightttt?"

The upcoming track follows Blackpink’s record-breaking single 'How You Like That'. The band’s debut Korean-language studio album, 'Blackpink: The Album' is slated to arrive on October 2.
