'Selena + Chef': Selena wants 'good boyfriend', Chef Ludo says he won't suggest passionate French boys for her
Selena Gomez puts out a disclaimer with regard to her culinary skills seconds after 'Selena + Chef' premieres. The singer-actor makes it clear it's her first time in the kitchen and she has moved into a new house and therefore, is still settling in. The chefs, who are usually extremely passionate and may come off as aggressive in the kitchen, were gentle with her and gave her the time and space to put together meals of their choice.
In the first three episodes, Selena went from cooking the perfect French omelet, ramen and a seafood tostada, to burning a few cookies and failing a cheese souffle. She got the crust right though. It was an out-and-out cooking show where Selena learned essential tips and tricks from top chefs that she could incorporate in her everyday cooking. But it was not just about the food Selena and the chefs put together. 'Selena + Chef' was also about food + conversations, and she had some interesting ones with chefs Ludo Lefebvre and Candice Kumai.
As Ludo instructed her to whip the eggs and fold them while wrapping cubes of cheese, he went on to say he always judges a cook by the way they make their eggs. "Tell me how to find a good boyfriend," Selena quipped. Later, when they were almost wrapping the omelet, Ludo said he would say go for French boys but wouldn't recommend them to her because they are very passionate. "I like passion," Selena giggled as she said.
But that was not the end of her discussing boys and relationships. Candice shared an easy-to-do but tasty recipe of ramen and called it one of the best date meals ever. She assured Selena that if she can perfect that, she would definitely get a call after. Selena nodded with glee and said: "I am struggling in that department." However, it isn't all that dark and gloomy for Selena, who is glad she is quarantining with her girlfriends Liz Golden and Raquelle Stevens. Selena even pointed out how she loves her girls and that her last music album had at least one female working on each of the tracks.
