LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It's common knowledge that when a character in a Marvel movie dies, it's devastating, and fans do not get over it. So when Scarlett Johansson, who played Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow in the franchise, was killed off in 2019's 'Avengers: Endgame', it was an unpleasant pill to swallow, and everybody hoped for Natasha Romanoff to appear in future movies in some capacity, but Scarlett Johansson seems to have given up the idea of appearing in Marvel movies.

Natasha Romanoff was introduced to audiences in 'Iron Man 2' in 2010 and later starred in the Avenger films, where she played an important part, as well as starring in 2021's 'Black Widow,' which gave viewers an insight into how Natasha became Black Widow and what drives her to do what she does.

Johansson is done with Marvel

Scarlett Johansson recently showed up on Gwyneth Paltrow's 'The Goop Podcast', where Paltrow asked her if she ever speculates about her character or if she is done with Marvel, to which Johansson responded, "I’m done. Chapter is over", adding that she sort of fulfilled all that she had to do and coming back to playing a character again and again like that over a decade is an unforgettable experience.

Scarlett also stated during the interview that “Doing Avengers was so much fun. I was like 26 years old. I was single, it was fun”, describing it all as an “adult summer camp.” Gwyneth joined in, expressing the same sentiment as Johansson. Scarlett then asked Paltrow if she was done playing Pepper Potts in the Marvel franchise, to which the actress replied that she cannot rule out the possibility of her character returning to the franchise because she was never killed off, to which Scarlett replied that she can see her character returning at some point.

Gwyneth Paltrow has been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since before it was the cinematic universe, first making an appearance as Pepper Potts in Iron Man (2008) starring Jon Favreau alongside Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark/Iron Man. She had previously said in an interview with Variety that she may be too old to be wearing a suit and all that. She said “I feel very lucky that I did it because I actually got talked into it. I was friends with Jon Favreau. It was such a wonderful experience making the first ‘Iron Man’ and then to watch how important it has become to the fans.”

'You were so nice to me!'

During the podcast, one of the actresses discussed the rumored feud between the two of them during the making of 'Iron Man 2'. At the time, online reporters claimed that the two of them did not get along well on set, and Paltrow said on her podcast that people had asked her if that was true.

Scarlett replied that was a rumor adding that “You were so nice to me on that movie. I was so petrified. You were so nice to me! You could’ve been awful. I was so out of my comfort zone on that movie. I’d never done anything like that before. Plus, you had established such deep friendships.” Paltrow reminded Johansson that everyone was so excited and psyched when they heard that Johnasson was going to join the cast of ‘Iron Man 2’ and she was happy to have another woman on the set too. The actresses agreed that working on a Marvel movie is fun and it is always fun to be a part of a project that resonates so deeply with people culturally.
