‘It won't happen again’: Tennis star Sara Bejlek DEFENDS groping allegations against father and coach
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Czech tennis player Sara Bejlek, 16, made it through the qualifying round for the US Open in New York, which required a moment of celebration. In the heat of the moment, Bejlek's father and coach celebrated in a rather unpleasant way, grabbing her from behind and her father even kissing her. The celebration sent tennis fans into a frenzy, but the 16-year-old talent certainly fought back, as several requests were made to the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) to investigate the incident.
The 16-year-old prodigy rocked the tournament as she qualified for her first Grand Slam, defeating even Britain's Heather Watson. Bejlek shook hands with everyone when she saw her father approach to congratulate her. In the process, the incident was caught on camera and the viral video was shared on the Internet. Bejlek told reporters, "Of course I saw the video. It was a spontaneous reaction of the whole team. We rejoiced. It may certainly seem inconvenient and uncomfortable to some, but we have already discussed it with the team. It won't happen again." Bejlek defended the inappropriate celebration.

After Bejlek defeated Watson, she followed protocol by shaking her opponent's hand, then walked to the chair judge and then celebrated with her father and coach. Bejlek hugged her father Jaroslav Bejlek, who patted her on the butt, and her coach Jakub Kahoun continued to celebrate in the same manner. After securing her spot at the US Open, she was eliminated in the first round after losing to Russia's Ludmilla Samsonova. Bejleck lost the match in easy sets 6-3, 6-1.
