At the end of episode 4, we saw Charlotte (Rose Williams) become the go-between Otis Molyneux (Jyuddah Jaymes) and Miss Georgiana Lambe (Crystal Clarke), discreetly dropping up and picking up letters from the town's post office.

Her relationship with Georgiana's guardian, Sidney Parker, is at an all-time low, after their fight on the streets. In episode 5, we will see how their personal equation will be affected by her meddling in his ward's affairs.

The official synopsis of the episode reveals Young Stringer is not having any of Tom Parker's broken promises anymore. He threatens a worker boycott of the annual cricket match with Sanditon’s gentlemen. Meanwhile, Charlotte and Miss Lambe "hatch a secret plan sure to draw ire from Sanditon’s residents”.

In the teaser video for episode 5, we see this "secret plan" is to help Georgiana meet Otis, even though she is has been kept under the strict watch of her minder, Mrs. Griffiths (Elizabeth Berrington) and strictly forbidden to go out.

Georgiana exclaims that she only wants to see Otis for a "brief hour", and Charlotte is sympathetic to her cause. She posts a letter to Otis saying Georgiana would be "delighted to meet him".

We also see cricket fever overtake the sea-side resort as the gentlemen, including Charlotte, play against the workers led by Young Stringer. After Tom Parker exits the game the "Gentleman" team is short one player and Young Stringer claims victory by virtue of a forfeit.

This is when Charlotte steps in saying she can take Tom's place, which everyone sees as a novel idea till Charlotte counters, saying, women played cricket in Willingdon. Sidney Parker agrees as the team captain and hands Charlotte the bat. Even though Charlotte is warming up to Young Stringer, she also continues to exchange quips with Sidney Parker, who seems impressed by her cricketing skills.

‘Sanditon’ Season 1 Episode 5 is all set to release on February 2, 2020, at 9 p.m. ET.
