Smith is gearing up for the release of his new album which is expected to be released in October this year; however, nothing has been confirmed yet. Prior to the record, Smith has two notable studio albums to his name: ‘In the Lonely Hour’ (2014) and ‘The Thrill of it All’ (2017).
Even if Sam made his fans wait for the album, he made sure they stay hooked to his music. In recent months, the ‘Stay With Me’ hitmaker dropped several features such as ‘Temptation’ with Tiwa Savage, ‘My Oasis’ with Burna Boy and ‘I’m Ready’ with Demi Lovato, which also entered the top 40 charts in several countries.
Release Date
Sam had first announced his new album, then titled ‘To Die For’ on February 13, 2020, via his official Twitter account along with the album art. He had tweeted, “My THIRD album TO DIE FOR is yours May 1st!!!! You can preorder tomorrow. I‘m more proud of this album than anything I’ve ever done. I’ve really set myself free the last two years whilst writing this & I hope you can dance and relate to these stories. It’s all for you, always xx.”

The third album from the British singer-songwriter was originally slated for a May release, as the tweet mentions. However, the 28-year-old postponed the release due to the on-going coronavirus pandemic and mentioned that he would be renaming the album. Releasing an official statement, Smith had said, “I have done a lot of thinking the last few weeks and feel that the title of my album and imminent release doesn't feel right. I have to come to the decision to continue working on the album and make some important changes and additions. I will be renaming the album and pushing back the release date — both of which are to be confirmed at this time.”
Concept
Sam Smith had released a track from the album in February which goes by the name ‘To Die For.’ The sad love song talks about searching for love so true that it is worth dying for and serves as a perfect anthem for those who have love to give but no one to give it to. The chorus of the song goes like, “Couples holding hands on a runway / They’re all posing in a picture frame / Whilst my world’s crashing down.” You can listen to the song here:
Looking at the first few releases from the album, it won’t be wrong to assume that the new album will be all about different shades of love and pain.

This is how the tracklist of the album looks like as reported by various publications. The official songs apart from the released and officially announced might or might not make it to the album.
