The country music star Ryan Hurd sure knows a good thing when he's heard it. And he's such a big fan of the reigning queen of country pop, Taylor Swift, that he's released a brand-new cover of one of her famous songs.

On April 14, the 33-year-old singer-songwriter released his version of Swift’s sultry track 'False God', which was part of her 'Lover' album in 2019. Hurd had been covering the romantic song on his recent headlining Platonic Tour earlier this year and he's done such a masterful job on it that it even earned Taylor Swift's approval.

While announcing the new cover's release on social media, Hurd also gave a shout out to Swift and commended her songwriting skills.

"Thank you @taylorswift13 for the song clinic. My favorite song off of 'Lover'. We covered this live on Platonic, it felt like a deep dive into someone else’s poetry," he wrote on Twitter. The video for the new song features footage from the 'To a T' singer while he was out on tour with his band. As a matter of fact, he's even covered Swift's song 'Dress' on tour previously.

Thirty-year-old Swift, who is a big fan of Hurd, was quick to show her appreciation. She replied, "Love this so much" on his Twitter post. The respect and admiration between the artistes is clearly a two-way street, and there's a lovely backstory to this cover as well.

When her recent album 'Lover' was released in the fall of 2019, Swift shared Hurd's Instagram story admiring the song 'False God', saying, "AHHH THANK YOU!!! If you ever cover it I will burst into a cloud of confetti." And now that he has, Taylor is clearly impressed with his effort.

Swift also added the new cover version to her Instagram story, saying "This is incredible," while sharing in country music star Maren Morris' appreciation of the song.

Maren is currently married to Hurd and the happy duo just welcomed a baby boy, Hayes Andrew, to their family in March. It's the first child for the country music power couple. Maren said, "I always loved when @ryanhurd covered this @taylorswift song in shows, and now it's a mix I can devour for all time." Swift is a big fan of their music. She's included both Hurd and Maren songs on her public playlists in the past, and even invited Morris to sing 'The Middle' with her during her Reputation tour.

Fans of Hurd and Swift were understandably quite excited on hearing the cover.

"This gave a new flavor to the song and I'm here for it," said one thrilled listener, while another fan exclaimed, "Sounds heaven to my ears. Wow."

Other admirers said, "When you (Ryan Hurd) played this at the Dusty Armadillo I can confirm that I 100% had an out of body experience," and both sets of fans seemed eager to see the pair work together in the future. "This is a beautiful and perfect cover!!! You both should collaborate! Just saying."

Many more fans were begging for an official version of the song to be released on Spotify and Apple Music. So keep your fingers crossed, we might just get to see that unveiled soon.
