'Run On' Episode 5 Spoilers: Mi-joo and Seon-gyeom ride through doubt and confusion, race towards love
'Run On' Episode 5 will see how Mi-joo (Shin Se-kyung) will face Seon-gyeom (Im Si-wan) after he asks her directly if she did accept spending money from his father. She doesn't lie to him and also tells him that she cannot undo what has been done, which seemingly disappoints Seon-gyeom. By now, we know how much Seon-gyeom has come to hate his father who gets his way with everything by using his influence or bribing his way out of tough situations. It is also this exact reason why he had chosen to rebel against him by publicly coming out as a man who had assaulted his juniors. Of course, his intention had been to spotlight the prevalent bullying in his team, but instead, because of his father Seon-gyeom had to go the extra mile.
So what we had expected to see was a lot of tension between Mi-joo and Seon-gyeom. However, what we will see instead is Seon-gyeom tell Mi-joo that he wants to continue seeing her. When Mi-joo arrives at his door in the hotel, to get her collector's gun, he ends up telling her that he will only return it to her if and only if she continues to meet him and spend time with him. Of course, this surprises Mi-joo and it surprises us too. He may have learned about how Mi-joo had returned the money that his father had given her without using any of it. In the first place, she hadn't even asked for it and that is something that may have changed his mind.
We also will see how Seon-gyeom will react to not having a job. As an athlete who is currently being disciplined for going against his association and fellow athletes, he has a lot of free time. This is new to him as a majority part of his life had been tailored by the minute to fit an image that was advantageous to his father who is an assemblyman. His mother, who is an actor, is a lot easier to be around from the way we see Seon-gyeom respond to her, but their family is an extremely dysfunctional one. So to be away from all the drama and have the time to while away as he deemed fit, was something that he had not expected to fell. He plans to enjoy it and if things were to work out well, he plans to enjoy it with Mi-joo.
'Run On' will air on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9 pm KST on JTBC and can be streamed on Netflix in the US.
