The Ruen Brothers premiered their new music video, 'All My Shades of Blue' on Wednesday (May 9). True to their DIY style, brothers Henry and Rupert Stansall, the multi-instrumentalist/songwriter filmed in their own backyard of Brooklyn, New York, enlisting their actor friends as audience members and set extras.

Directed by the Ruen Brothers and Matthew Mendelson, the video is an appealing, straightforward performance clip that harkens back to a simplistic time of authentic music-making, both stylistically and visually.

Talking about the music video, the brothers said in a statement: “We wanted the mainstay of the video to be ‘us performing together, captured in a multi-cam television style’. We love late 60’s country music TV, like Waylon Jennings’ rendition of ‘Delia’s Gone’ in his bright yellow suit which is super cool. The vibrant-colored lighting changes to reflect the theme and dynamics of the song. We aimed to get the colors to be as striking and rich as those found in Singing In The Rain and Mary Poppins - classics that we think are beautiful.”

The music video comes on the heels of the brothers' debut album of the same name, 'All My Shades of Blue'. The entire forthcoming album was produced by legendary rock producer Rick Rubin, who has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry. The album will be available digitally and on CD June 1 through Ramseur Records (The Avett Brothers, Steep Canyon Rangers).

Rubin commented, “I liked that their songwriting seemed like it was from another era… The idea was, what would a modern album with Roy Orbison and The Everly Brothers produced by Phil Spector sound like?”

The album features Henry on acoustic guitar, Rupert on electric and acoustic guitar, and vocals from both, alongside an impressive line-up of A-listers including Chad Smith (Red Hot Chilli Peppers) on drums, Dave Keuning (The Killers) on strings and Ian McLagan (Faces/Small Faces) on keyboards.

From sleepy English steel-town obscurity to playing the stages of Glastonbury, Coachella and Bonnaroo among other notable festivals, the Ruen Brothers have written songs with The Weeknd and played live dates with such artists as George Ezra, Tom Odell and Greta Van Fleet. They will continue touring the U.S. into the spring and summer, with an extensive fall run supporting Cafe Tacvba. Check out their complete tour schedule below.
