'We don't need no education?': Roger Waters SLAMMED for saying 'Taiwan is part of China'
Pink Floyd’s co-founder Roger Waters has time and again got himself into controversies with his statements. The rock veteran once again got on the wrong side of the Internet after he claimed that Taiwan was part of China. His latest remarks came after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi landed in Taipei on Tuesday, August 2, despite being warned by from China.
The 78-year-old musician went pro-Russia and pro-China during his latest interview with CNN host Michael Smerconish. The latter had questioned Waters about political aspects of his ‘This Is Not a Drill’ show. For the unversed, a montage of war criminals, including a photo of President Joe Biden, was displayed during the rock icon’s show. Shedding light on the same, Waters claimed, “He's fueling the fire in the Ukraine, for a start.”

While discussing the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Waters further told the CNN host, “That is a huge crime. Why won't the United States of America encourage [Volodymyr] Zelensky, [Ukraine's] president, to negotiate, obviating the need for this horrific, horrendous war?" He also claimed that it was about the "action and reaction of NATO pushing right up to the Russian border" when Smerconish responded that Waters got it "reversed" and was "blaming the party that got invaded.”
While speaking on the matter, Waters mentioned China saying Joe Biden should "try and figure out what the United States would do if the Chinese were putting nuclear-armed missiles into Mexico or Canada." To this, the host said, "The Chinese are too busy encircling Taiwan as we speak." The musician promptly reverted, "They're not encircling Taiwan!" adding, "Taiwan is part of China. And that's been absolutely accepted by the whole of the international community since 1948." He further shared, "And if you don't know that, you're not reading enough. Go and read about it." Chaos ensued chaos on Twitter soon after as the rocker got dragged for his remarks.

‘Why is Roger Waters being asked for an opinion on Taiwan’s sovereignty’
Social media users were in no mood to forgive Waters for his new controversial remarks. “Why should anyone listen to Roger Waters on Taiwan and Ukraine? Senile multimillionaire musicians like Roger aren’t facing a future of enslavement and reeducation camps. He doesn’t face the torture and persecution of loved ones. He can simply lounge around his mansions all day”, said one user as another posted, “Hey Roger, attached a Taiwanese Passport for your reference. Why, as you say, if Taiwan is part of China, do the Taiwanese that visit the UK, use a Taiwan passport to enter your country, not a Chinese passport? Love your music but you could do well to learn more about Taiwan.”
The next one tweeted, “All in all you're just another brick in the Great Wall of China's lies. @rogerwaters, if you're prepared to be wrong about everything as you once said, this is when you are dead, dead wrong. Taiwan is not part of China, never was, never will be.” Whereas, one added,” You can count on Roger Waters to consistently be on the wrong side. Here, he sides with the world's largest human rights abuser, China, incorrectly claiming #Taiwan is part of #China. Taiwan is NOT China! Taiwan is a democracy committed to freedom of speech and human rights.” And, another concluded, “Why is Roger Waters being asked for an opinion on Taiwan’s sovereignty? Who honestly cares?”
