Female 007? Roger Moore's son Geoffrey says only a man should play James Bond
LONDON, UK: Geoffrey Moore, son of Sir Roger Moore, has acknowledged that when the question is about choosing the next actor to play the legendary part of James Bond, he feels that only a man should do it. How far is it true for the iconic role?
As Daniel Craig announced he was quitting, Geoffrey, better known as Jaffa, weighed in on the discussion of who should play the next James Bond. If a woman were to play the part, Jaffa, 57, responded to the Express, "Well, then it's no longer James Bond. I mean, she might be Agents 006, 008, or 009…”

Can there be a female Bond?
Lashana Lynch's character 'Nomi' received the 007 codename after Craig's Bond departed MI6 and went off the grid in the last movie. Jaffa acknowledged that he believed the action might have confused viewers of ‘No Time to Die’. "With the previous Bond, I suppose this was the confusion," he said. Nomi was informed that she was 007 before stating, "I've got to give it back to Bond."
Jaffa continued, "If it was a different franchise from the 007 series, I'd approve of a female Bond. Maybe from the filmmakers of James Bond comes Jane or Jemima Bond or something along those lines."
The Mayfair restaurant owner went on to say that women have played spies before, mentioning how Charlize Theron "pulled off" her role in 'Atomic Blonde'. Nonetheless, he reiterated his first claim that it wouldn't be the same because only a guy should play "[Ian] Fleming's Bond."
What is Daniel's opinion?
In a 2021 interview with Radio Times, Craig explained his reasoning for not wanting a female actor to take over as Bond. The ‘Glass Onion’ actor claimed that a woman shouldn't play the part because women ought to have their own parts that aren't written for men. Craig joined a number of celebrities who have voiced their opposition to a female Bond, including Barbara Broccoli, the franchise's producer. “Simply put, there ought to be better roles for women and performers of color,” the actor stated.
Why should a woman play James Bond when there ought to be a role that would suit a woman just as well? Halle Berry, who starred in 'Die Another Day', is among the actresses who concur with Craig that a man should portray Bond. Idris Elba, the 50-year-old actor, who plays the franchise's namesake John Luther in the first motion picture adaptation of the TV series, has long been mentioned as Craig's replacement.
