Roddy Ricch 'arrest': Rapper’s Governors Ball set canceled as fans fuel speculation

Roddy Ricch, who was one of the performers at Governors Ball 2022, will no longer be performing at the festival this year. ‘The Box’ hitmaker was dropped out of the line-up after an official tweet by Governors Ball shared the unfortunate news. The post quickly got the fans confused as well as furious as many wondered what exactly happened with the rapper.
 
Soon, the news surfaced on Twitter that the 23-year-old rapper was arrested when he was on his way to perform at the mega event. Speaking of rappers getting arrested, hip-hop artist Paper Lovee was arrested by Atlanta Police for his alleged involvement in a shooting at a convenience store. Another rapper, SpotemGottem, also came under the radar of the Dallas Police Department in August 2021 for his suspected relation to a murder. Other hip-hop artists such as Polo G, Bandman Kevo, and 9lokkNine too made it to the news for being arrested.

Did Roddy Ricch get arrested?

While the official Twitter page of Governors Ball did not shed light on the reason behind Roddy Ricch’s cancelation from the line-up, all they said was, “Unfortunately Roddy Ricch is no longer performing today.” However, a twitter user claimed that his uncle arrested the rapper for alleged possession of guns. “Roddy Ricch has been arrested, my uncle arrested him for guns”, said the user. The news is yet to be confirmed by the rapper’s team. There has been no comment from his rep so far. MEAWW will keep you posted.

Artistes like J Cole, Becky G, Halsey, and a few others are also lined up for the festival that will run till Sunday, June 12.

Social media users were quick to react to the news of Roddy Ricch getting arrested. “Roddy Ricch allegedly got arrested on his way to perform at the Govenors Ball. F**k sake man please don't tell me it's true”, said one user as another posted, “Bruh, so many rappers dying and getting arrested this year, wtf going on.” One shared, “I'm outta here... Came all the way from Texas to watch @roddyricch perform and now he can't anymore.”
 
The next one tweeted, “Damn gov ball turning into rolling loud”, as another posted, “Roddy Ricch getting arrested on his way to gov ball is so funny.” One person shared, “HipHop cops in shi**y a** nyc arrested Roddy Rich tonight otw to the governors ball & you wonder why Wayne canceled on their a**”, whereas , another mentioned, “Roddy Ricch just got arrested in nyc before governors ball #freeroddy” One person stated, “Why roddy ricch get arrested”, as another concluded, “So I just found out Roddy Ricch was allegedly arrested. Hopefully this is false but praying for him.”
