Rapper Roddy Ricch has become the new internet hero after he declared that he would donate his entire compensation from the Astroworld concert to the families of the victims who died in the stampede. In a recent Instagram statement, the rapper wrote, "Please have the families of those who we lost yesterday reach out to @shawnholiday. I'll b donating my net compensation to the families of this incident. #Pray4Houston."

Horror unfolded at Travis Scott's Astroworld fest in Houston on November 5, as frenzied fans went berserk near the entry gates. A massive stampede ensued, injuring hundreds and claiming the lives of 8 individuals between 14 to 27 years of age. Travis Scott later took to Instagram to share that the tragedy has left him "absolutely devastated." However, fans slammed the 'Sicko Mode' singer for ignoring the desperate pleas of the audience to stop the concert, as he continued to sing while ambulances took away dead bodies.

Roddy Ricch, who performed at the Astroworld Festival on Friday alongside Lil Baby, SZA, and Don Toliver, expressed his condolences for the victims following the tragedy, as he announced about donating his net compensation. 

The 23-year-old singer and record producer rose to fame last year with his debut album 'Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial'. The album opened at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart and fetched the young rapper over $20 million.

Born in Compton, California in 1998, Roddy Ricch first arrived in the musical scene in 2017 when he released his mixtape Feed Tha Streets. It was soon followed by Feed Tha Streets II in 2018. However, he did not come into prominence until 2020, when his album charted record sales. The rapper presently has an estimated net worth of around $10 million, much of which he has invested into commercial real estate projects in Compton, according to Celebrity Net Worth. 

Meanwhile, Ricch's generous gesture towards Astroworld victims prompted fans to immediately draw a comparison between him and Travis Scott. "So roddy ricch donates all the money he made from this when he has no fault in any of this but travis scott can't do sth like that?" asked a fan on Twitter.
