AMAs 2020: Roddy Ricch wins 1 out of 8 nods with Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album, fans say he got 'f**king played'

Rapper Roddy Ricch had scored a maximum of eight nominations along with R&B crooner The Weeknd at the 48th edition of the American Music Awards (AMAs). However, he had to settle with only one win. The 22-year-old singer-songwriter won the award for Favorite Album – Rap/Hip-Hop for ‘Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial’ beating Lil Baby for his album ‘My Turn’ and Lil Uzi Vert for ‘Eternal Atake’.

‘Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial’ is the debut studio album by Roddy Ricch. It was released by Atlantic Records and Bird Vision Entertainment on December 6, 2019. The much-acclaimed album features guest appearances from artistes Gunna, Lil Durk, Meek Mill, Mustard, Ty Dolla $ign and A Boogie wit da Hoodie.

Social media users, who were active on Twitter during the entire award ceremony of AMAs 2020 were quick to react on Roddy Ricch’s single win. One user said, “WHERE'S TWENTY ONE PILOTS??” One person stated, “Was boring and wasn't fair how lil baby or Roddy Ricch didn't win. The baby should have got new artist. Who picks this s**t?  #AMAs”

Another added, “Bruh when Taylor Swift won the Artist of the Year award, I wanted to pull a Kanye at the ok that joint and say, 'Excuse me, but RODDY RICCH IS ARTIST OF THE YEAR SUS' #AMAs." One individual tweeted, “Bro I swear Lil Baby and Roddy Ricch stay getting f**king played at their awards #AMAs” One added, “WE DONT F**KING CARE UZI HAD THE BETTER ALBUM.”



 



 



 



 



 

The world’s largest fan-voted show, American Music Awards of 2020 was hosted by Taraji P Henson on Sunday, November 22, from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. This year’s ceremony also featured several new categories, including new rap and hip-hop honors along with several new awards for Latin music.

Kristin Cavallari, Ciara, Christian Serratos, David Dobrik, Laverne Cox, Derek Hough, Paris Hilton, Tayshia Adams and Anthony Anderson were the presenters of the evening. Global musicians like Jennifer Lopez and Maluma, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Bad Bunny, Bebe Rexha with Doja Cat, Bell Biv DeVoe, BTS, Dan + Shay, Dua Lipa, Lewis Capaldi, Lil Baby, Lil Nas X, Nelly, Shawn Mendes and The Weeknd with Kenny G were listed as performers at AMAs 2020.
