The coronavirus pandemic has been causing all sorts of disruption in everyday life and work. The most recent casualty in entertainment has been the hit CW show, ‘Riverdale’.

As per reports, the production of ‘Riverdale’ has been suspended after a member of the production came into contact with someone who had tested positive for coronavirus.

According to Variety, a Warner Bros. TV spokesperson said, “We have been made aware that a team member from ‘Riverdale,’ which is produced in Vancouver, was recently in contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19. The team member is currently receiving medical evaluation.” In a statement, Warner Brothers Television confirmed on Wednesday that the “team member is currently receiving medical evaluation”.

“We are working closely with the appropriate authorities and health agencies in Vancouver to identify and contact all individuals who may have come into direct contact with our team member,” the statement read. “The health and safety of our employees, casts, and crews is always our top priority. We have and will continue to take precautions to protect everyone who works on our productions around the world.”

'Riverdale' is currently in production in Vancouver for the show’s fourth season.

Last week, South by Southwest, more commonly known as SXSW, the annual conglomeration of parallel film, interactive media, music festivals and conferences organized in Austin, Texas, was canceled for the year 2020, because of the virus. The Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals in Southern California have also been delayed, while the video-game convention E3 has been canceled.

The virus outbreak that began in China nearly three months ago has now infected more than 1,000 people in the United States and killed 36. The World Health Organization declared the virus a “pandemic” during a news conference in Geneva on Wednesday.
