Rico Rodriguez is unrecognizable as he rocks new style on 'Shazam! Fury of the Gods' red carpet
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Rico Rodriguez dazzled in recent red carpet photos, seeming unrecognizable with a mop top and facial hair. The child star, 24, who appeared in the popular sitcom 'Modern Family' stepped out in Los Angeles on Tuesday, March 14, for the 'Shazam! Fury of the Gods' premiere, showing off his new look.
When the hit television comedy 'Modern Family' first aired more than ten years ago, it instantly gained a devoted following because of Rico's portrayal of the endearing Manny Delgado. He played the son of Gloria Delgado Pritchett (Sofia Vergara) and stepson of Jay Pritchett (Ed O’Neill). He was only 10 years old when he first appeared in the series.

Rico Rodriguez looked unrecognizable in new photos
For the premiere of 'Shazam', Rico sported black pants, an olive-colored pair of sneakers, and an olive-and-white bomber jacket. He looked worlds apart from his character, Manny, when he showed up with long, curly locks. The actor smiled for the cameras on the red carpet while sporting a scruffy beard and mustache.
'Modern Family' lasted 11 years with more than 250 episodes. Manny's persona was that of a connoisseur of good things who frequently played a 40-year-old urban sophisticate trapped in a 12-year-old's body. He soon gained popularity among the audience.
'It felt more like hanging out with my extended family'
When the show ended in 2020, Rico took to Instagram to pay tribute to the cast and crew. "When I was 9 years old, I started work on a pilot called 'My American Family'," he said. "As an actor, you go through a long process for a job. Class after class, audition after audition, just hoping to get that right opportunity in front of the right casting director so you can show them your skills. Filming the pilot, then all of season one of what we now know as 'Modern Family', I knew we were working on something special. I could feel it. Coming to work every day with my cast and crew never actually felt like work, it felt more like hanging out with my extended family."
Rico previously discussed handling his newfound fame while he was still a little boy. "Fans started coming up to me saying they loved the show and related to the characters and how it brought their families together every Wednesday night to tune in," he told E! News in 2019. "Also, Steven Spielberg and President Barack Obama told me that they watched the show every week too," he added.
