Revenge of the 5th: 'The Mandalorian' Season 2 could bring this Sith Lord's history back to 'Star Wars' canon

While it is believed that there were skirmishes between the warrior race and the Jedi during the Clone Wars, it could also have been a reference to a much older conflict

Ever since Disney's takeover of Lucasfilm, a number of 'Star Wars' characters and plot points have faded out of the canon and into the Legends continuity. Easily the most beloved character who got his history wiped in this way was the enigmatic Darth Revan.

Revan made his first appearance in the role-playing video game 'Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic'. He began as a charismatic Jedi Knight who rebelled against the Jedi Order's pacifist approach to a war between the Republic and the Mandalorians.

Drawing together a group of followers, Revan eventually set up his own splinter faction called the Revanchists who used dark side practices to further their light side goals.

He would soon become the man who decimated the Mandalorians, defeating their leader Mandalore the Ultimate and scattering the warrior race and creating a long hatred between the Mandalorians and the Jedi.

He would eventually be seduced to the dark side and become the dark lord Darth Revan, establishing a new Sith Empire. After the canon-Legends split, his history was practically erased until 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary' revealed that a Sith Lord by the name of Darth Revan did exist.

So while we know that Revan existed in 'Star Wars' canon in some form, his history is still outside of canonicity. But 'The Mandalorian' Season 2 could change all that.

The first season of the live-action Disney+ series revealed that the Mandalorians did have a conflict with the Jedi. While it is believed that they were talking about the skirmishes between the warrior race and the Jedi Order during the Clone Wars, it could also have been a reference to a much older conflict, the one with Revan.

If this does happen and Revan's history is confirmed in canon, even if he doesn't make a live-action appearance, it would bring a lot of joy to fans of the character. After all, characters like Revan are one in a million, and Disney would be fools to keep him out of the established canon of the franchise for too long.

'The Mandalorian' Season 2 is expected to arrive in the fall of 2020.
