Reese Witherspoon is currently promoting her new Netflix film 'Your Place or Mine'
Witherspoon, who has a $400 million net worth and was named by Forbes magazine as the world's richest actress, appeared to be the epitome of a Hollywood tycoon while dressed in all black. 'The Morning Show' star is currently on a fast-paced press tour to support the February 10 premiere of her new Netflix movie, 'Your Place Or Mine'.
In the movie, 'Your Place Or Mine', Witherspoon finds herself in a love triangle with Ashton Kutcher and Jesse Williams after claiming that her love life is a "ghost town," as per Daily Mail. This is the plot of the romantic comedy. Her character, Debbie, will be seen switching lives with her best friend Peter (Kutcher), making the most of her vacation week in New York City, and starting a passionate relationship with a dashing man named Theo (Williams.) The movie was produced by Witherspoon's production company 'Hello Sunshine', which also produced the recent rom-com 'Something From Tiffany's' for Amazon, starring Zoey Deutch.
'I was so used to being underestimated'
Witherspoon founded her production company 'Hello Sunshine' in 2016 in order to promote female-led stories in Hollywood. The business flourished thanks to a string of critically acclaimed and commercially successful hits, including 'Gone Girl' and the major television series 'Big Little Lies.' Reese sold a portion of Hello Sunshine to Candle Media in August 2021 for $900 million, keeping an 18% ownership stake in the company while earning an estimated $120 million after taxes from the sale of her existing shares. She has also energized the publishing industry by starting Reese's Book Club, mirroring Oprah.
Witherspoon opened up about her huge success, changing the course of her career, and battling the pervasive sexism in the business to The Hollywood Reporter. "I was so used to being underestimated that when I was somehow accepted, I didn't know how to look at material. I didn't know how to make decisions and I didn't know what to say," she stated.
But the 'Hot Pursuit' star was determined to disprove all of her doubters and have the last laugh after Hollywood wrote her off as a "has-been." "Now I've got logs on a fire and I know what to do," She told The Hollywood Reporter when asked about what inspired her to launch Hello Sunshine.
