The equation between Jeong-ah and Hye-jun is an interesting portrayal of how a fangirl turned a friend. She initially lies to him and says that she is a fan of Hae-hyo's and not his. Of course, once he sees pictures of himself on her laptop he confirms that she has been lying to him. He gives her a chance to come clean and the two become closer after this. They even go as far as to get drunk together and watching Jeong-ah get drunk and not extremely cute about how she really began fangirling is super entertaining.

From confessing how she is not going to be his fan anymore because she wants to avoid the clash of her fantasy and her reality to confessing how frustrating it was at her work, the boundaries between the two of them begin to blur. So when the promo of 'Record of Youth' Episode 5 released and featured a scene of both Hye-jun and Jeong-ah acting as if they are flirting with each other, considering dating even, we were not surprised.

However, it seems as if Jeong-ah and Hye-jun are not ready to accept that they might be romantically interested in each other. When Hye-jun's manager Min-jae asks them if they are dating, the two get them extremely defensive. They deny vehemently and look at each other awkwardly. It is hilarious but right after we see Hye-jun and Jeong-ah meet each other again, and this time too, it begins raining and Jeong-ah even comments about how it always rains when the two of them meet. The "ment" as they say in K-dramas is totally romantic. So the next episode is plausibly going to see the two of them realize that there is more to their chemistry.

The promo also shows Hye-jun completely loses himself in the character that he plays in the new film. His character is not the main lead, however, there is room for improvement and Hye-jun is smart enough to make use of this. He even does improv in scenes and impresses the director because his additions add value to the scenes. So in this vein, we see Hye-jun become a completely different person while he shoots for the drama. Even his close friend Hae-hyo is extremely shocked to see his friend change into a different person when he sets foot to play his part. Will this film be Hye-jun's one big chance to make a name for himself in the industry and get more opportunities or is this another false start that might lead him to fail yet again?

'Record of Youth' originally airs on tvN on Mondays and Tuesdays in South Korea and can be streamed on Netflix in the US.
