The much-awaited season 14 of our favorite reality show ‘Real Housewives of Orange County’ premiered on August 6. The current season has already been in the news for various reasons including OG housewife Vicki Gunvalson’s demotion. While the housewives managed to awe us with their lifestyle and the latest happenings in their personal lives, one particular housewife got all our attention- Tamra. This beautiful blonde grandma spent most of the last season tending to her sick husband Eddie and things are finally looking up for her in this season. We see that she has upgraded her lifestyle, she got herself a country-club membership, moved into a beautiful house in Coto de Caza, and Eddie’s health also seems to be improving.

Now that things seem to be getting better, she decided to take it up a notch and tries to mend the relationship between her two sons- Ryan Vieth and Spencer Barney. In the past, we have seen Ryan and Spencer butting heads over their radically different ideologies and beliefs. The brothers are still having trouble finding a middle-ground. In the pilot episode, we saw Tamra trying to get her sons to talk to each other, and as expected things took an ugly turn when Ryan proudly flaunted his pro-Trump beliefs and spoke in favor of the construction of the wall. Ryan’s younger brother Spencer immediately called him out for being a Trump supporter and a “racist”. The elder sibling took great offense at being addressed as racist and threatened to punch Spencer in the face. In the confessional, Ryan defended his viewpoint by saying that he isn’t a racist because he has black and Mexican people in his family.

Fans, however,  found this behavior of Ryan problematic for many reasons- threatening physical violence, racist beliefs, and pro-Trump ideology. Fans immediately called him out. A fan wrote, “Threatening to punch someone (your own brother no less) in the face cause they called you a racist because you’re ‘for building the wall’ and a Trump supporter. Sounds about white #RHOC”. Another fan pointed out the flaws in Ryan’s justification, “Just because you have minorities in your family doesn’t mean you can’t be racist, Ryan! What you believe in and support is usually a good indicator of that tho! #RHOC”.

This isn’t the first time that Ryan has found himself in a soup for his views or actions. In the past, Ryan has been arrested for domestic abuse of his baby-mamma, Sarah Rodriguez. Earlier this year, Ryan shared a transphobic post on his Instagram, which drew a lot of backlash.
