YG 'My Life 4Hunnid': Release date, concept, tracklist and all the hype around rapper's Tupac-inspired album
Compton rapper YG has had a busy 2020 on both personal and professional fronts but that did not stop the artist from dropping his new album. Yes, you read it right. The 30-year-old rapper is all pumped up to drop his fifth studio album titled 'My Life 4Hunnid'.
The 'Don’t Tell Em' hitmaker made the news official when he announced the new record on his official Twitter account. The tweet read, "MY LIFE 4HUNNID THE ALBUM OCT 2ND."
The fifth studio album is a follow-up to his 2019 project called ‘4Real 4Real'. The new highly-anticipated album was earlier titled ‘Laugh Now Kry Later’ but he changed the title when rapper Drake dropped his new single with the same name a month ago.
Release date
YG's 'My Life 4Hunnid' will hit the Internet on October 2, 2020, via Def Jam Recordings. Some of the main producers of the album include Allen Ritter, Benjamin Lasnier and Boi-1da.
Concept
Talking about his new album in an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music (as reported by Complex), YG asserted that his new album (which was entirely recorded during the Covid-19 quarantine) was highly influenced by the late hip-hop legend Tupac Shakur. "He (2pac) went through a lot of the stuff that I'm dealing with right now, and he was making records about it, and just the tone and the cadence of how he was coming up. So that's a fact, that's a fun fact."
Looking at the tracklist, which you can check below, the album is more upbeat with gangsta rap anthems with a few introspective moments in between.
