It wasn't just the announcement of the Ahsoka Tano live-action series that wowed the world on Thursday. Disney+ is rolling out seven new 'Star Wars' series and one of them is 'Rangers of the New Republic' helmed by the men behind 'The Mandalorian', Jon Favreau, and Dave Filoni. The series will be set in the same timeline as 'The Mandalorian' and from the announcement made during the Investors Meet 2020, a logo of the title was released as well.

With the series officially greenlit, here's what we know about it so far:

Release date

While there is no release date mentioned, the series might drop in sometime around 'The Mandalorian's actual release next year as the Pedro Pascal-starrer's Season 3 is reportedly looking for a Christmas 2021 release. This would mean some content out there while we wait for the third installment.

Plot

There is nothing concrete released about the series, however, we'll go with the Collider who reckons the show might center around Sector Rangers, an intergalactic police force established by the Galactic Republic prior to the 'Clone Wars'. Much of the plot is under the shroud, but we are likely to see more of a new form of content just like what we did in 'The Mandalorian'.

Carano as Cara Dune (Disney+)

No cast details have been revealed, Although one thing everyone has been pretty sure about is that the series is most likely to feature the character of Cara Dune, played during both 'The Mandalorian' by Gina Carano. Watch this space as we keep you posted on the cast announcements for the series.

Writers/Directors

Favreau and Filoni are back to thrill 'Star Wars' fans. They serve as the creators for 'Rangers of the New Republic'.
