Will there ever come a time when we will get tired of watching Psych? We ask ourselves this question every once in a while, mostly in between bingeing sessions of the eight seasons of the show. The series got off the air in 2014 and we resorted to streaming it. Ever since we have been pining for fresh content. But with a brand new movie coming soon, we cannot wait to see the hilarity that ensues with James Roday, Dulé Hill, Timothy Omundson, and Maggie Lawson share screen space in 'Psych 2: Lassie Come Home'.

After the first movie 'Psych: The Movie', which released on December 7, 2017, it was announced in 2019 that the second movie will be coming out soon. Apart from the series regular, Allison Miller, Sarah Chalke, Kadeem Hardison, and Richard Schiff join the cast.

Here is everything you need to know about the movie that brings back the magical, hilarious camaraderie of James Roday and Dulé Hill.

Release date

'Psych 2: Lassie Come Home' will not be premiering on the network as the franchise has all this while. It will instead premiere on NBCU's streaming service Peacock, which is not going to go live until April 2020. When official release dates are announced, MEA WorldWide will update this article.

Plot

'Psych 2: Lassie Comes Home' teases to follow an Alfred Hitchcock model of storytelling. Just before the first movie, Omundson has suffered a stroke which rendered him unable to work on the movie and could only manage a cameo. The second movie begins with him recovering from the stroke in a clinic. He soon begins to see unnatural, impossible happenings around the clinic.

Shawn and Gus then return to help Lassie in Santa Barbara, forcing them to confront the professional, personal and the supernatural. "Separated from their new lives in San Francisco, Shawn and Gus find themselves unwelcome in their old stomping grounds as they secretly untangle a twisted case without the benefit of the police, their loved ones or the quality sourdough bakeries of the Bay Area. What they uncover will change the course of their relationships forever."

Roday will be reprising his role as the hilarious, highly intelligent, hyper-observant psychic detective Shawn Spencer. Shawn makes the use of his eidetic memory and keen observational skills to not only solve crimes but also save lives. The actor is best known for this role and for playing the role of Gary Mendez on 'A Million Little Things'.

Dulé Hill as Burton 'Gus' Guster

Shawn's oldest friend and closest ally, Hill's portrayal of Gus is simply remarkable. Their camaraderie is praiseworthy and naturally hilarious. He is the anchor to Shawn's antics and helps him solve cases.

The actor is best known for his work on 'The West Wing', for which he received an Emmy nomination Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

Timothy Omundson as Carlton 'Lassie' Lassiter

She is also known for her work on 'Lethal Weapon' as Nathalie Flynn, on 'Santa Clarita Diet' as Christa. She currently stars as Cay on 'Outmatched'.

Apart from the original cast reprising their roles for the upcoming movie, Sarah Chalke, who will be playing the role of Lassiter's primary caregiver and protector, forms a bond with Gus. Allison Miller, Roday's co-star from 'A Million Little Things' will also be joining the cast as an entrepreneur with a trust fund and a new business idea every week.
