The prog-metal supergroup Sons of Apollo has been quite busy of late. The band comprises virtuoso musicians from some of the biggest hard rock groups from the last 30 years. The band has former Dream Theater members including drummer Mike Portnoy and keyboardist Derek Sherinian (collectively known as The Del Fuvio Brothers), guitarist Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal (Guns N' Roses), bassist Billy Sheehan (The Winery Dogs, Mr. Big, David Lee Roth) and vocalist Jeff Scott Soto (Journey, Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force).

Sons of Apollo recently released their second studio album 'MMXX' (2020 to English speakers) to much critical acclaim. In support of the new album, which hit No. 2 on the UK Rock Chart, they have now completed a successful North American headlining tour.

"Each member of this band has their own signature sound on their instrument," says the keyboardist Sherinian. "And when you put all of this together what you get is a wonderful five-headed beast. It makes this a sonically special band, which is definitely what comes across on 'MMXX'. You can hear odd time signatures and amazingly crazy performances here. Overall, we've been satisfyingly more adventurous this time than we were before, and I know people are sure to love what we've done."

The prolific band is set to embark on a headlining run of Europe and South America, starting on February 28 in Germany. And to celebrate this they have launched a new music video for the track 'Asphyxiation'. Watch it here:
