'I kept making same mistakes': Priyanka Chopra opens up about 'tumultuous relationship' before husband Nick Jonas
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Five years after marrying the youngest Jonas brother, Nick, ‘Citadel’ star Priyanka Chopra opens up about her past relationships and the mistakes she made previously while being in love. The Bollywood actress, Chopra, recently took to an interview to tell it all.
In the latest episode of 'Armchair Expert', Chopra told the host, Dax Shepard, that she was in a “tumultuous relationship” before she started dating Nick. "I was in a tumultuous relationship at that time. This is '16,” the ‘Quantico’ star started reminiscing. The Miss World 2000 then said, “We had common friends who didn't want me to be in my relationship and were like, 'Oh, he's single too.' He's really not with that girl, but he is. It was complicated on both our ends."

Divulging a little Jonas family secret, Chopra said, “His brother loves Quantico. Kevin loves network TV, and I love network TV. I’m really glad he did, because he pointed at me on a billboard, and he was like, ‘You should call her.’ And so, he had a few people being like, ‘Call her.'" The mother-of-one further said about how the virtual correspondence with her then-future husband first started, “So he just DM’d me. And I was like, ‘Why don’t you text me, because my social team can read these messages.’”
She also did not leave the opportunity to comment on Nick’s reaction, “And he was like, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah, you just wanted to give me your number.'” Without revealing the name of her ex, Chopra said that even though she “kinda did” want Nick to get her number, she was averse to the idea as she “was in a relationship then.”
Priyanka Chopra gets candid about the age difference
Commenting on their age difference, Chopra, 40, said, “I was at the end of my last long relationship before Nick. So I didn’t want to engage as much at that time. I was also, like, 35; Nick was 25." However, she also informed later how mistaken she was, “I really put a stop to it in a way, because I judged the book by the cover. I was like, ‘I wanna settle down. I have been there and done the fun dating things.’ … I was ready to get serious and not realizing my husband is actually a 70-year-old man stuck in a 30-year-old’s body,” joked the Bollywood superstar.
Chopra continues to talk about her qualms with starting a new relationship as she had some exes who were "a little bit narcissistic." The ‘Baywatch’ actor revealed, "I kept making the same mistakes," before adding, "A lot of the pattern in my relationships was me feeling gaslit because I gave that kind of power to the people that I was with, where I was like, 'You come first.’” All these past mistakes readied her for her future relationship with Nick.
Priyanka Chopra's previous relationships
Chopra’s first high-octane public romance surfaced in 2008 when she started dating her ‘Love Story 2050’ co-star Harman Baweja. The couple dated for two years before splitting as Baweja could not give time in the relationship, as per India Today. Chopra was then rumored to be with Shahid Kapoor, another Bollywood superstar, whom she met on the set of their movie 'Kaminey', reports Pinkvilla. At an Emmy’s after party, Chopra and Tom Hiddleston were also rumored to be flirting and exchanging numbers, as reported by Desimartini. However, no record of who 'The White Tiger' star was dating in 2016 could be confirmed.
