The last time Kate and Prince William visited the United States was in 2014 for a trip to New York City. Their three-day journey will culminate with the second annual Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony, a celebration of innovative solutions to the world's problems.

"They feel and appreciate the warmth and excitement of the American people for their return to the US and are really looking forward to meeting as many folks as possible, The source tells People. The couple's visit is primarily motivated by the Earthshot Prize on Friday night, but they also want to "fact-find" about some of the issues and pursuits that are important to them. "Some of the things we are focused on right now is supporting some of the most hard-pressed communities up and down the UK and we will continue to do that in Boston," adds the source.
The Earthshot Prize Awards, which will be telecast on PBS on Sunday, December 4, are referred to by Prince William as an attempt to offer some urgent optimism toward addressing environmental concerns and climate change. He and Princess Kate are "excited to be able to bring that to the United States and inspire people stateside and around the world through the incredible stories we are going to tell," the source says. The source adds, "The prize has become the Prince's Super Bowl moment of the year, and he looks forward to continuing to use the platform each year to shine a light on some of the most impactful projects doing amazing things around the world to save our planet's future."

The tour of Prince William and Kate will begin with a welcome at Boston City Hall, where Mayor Michelle Wu and Ambassador Caroline Kennedy will assist the couple in beginning the countdown to the glamorous. Celebrity-studded Earthshot Prize event on Friday, December 2 night at the MGM Music Hall. William and Kate, both 40, will visit Greentown Labs in Somerville on Thursday, December 1 to learn about some of the cutting-edge technologies being used there as well as to witness the work that groups in Boston are doing to create a more sustainable world. Later that day, they will learn about Roca's efforts, a non-profit group that has spent the last 35 years developing a unified strategy to save and assist in changing the trajectory of the lives of high-risk young people.
On Friday, December 2 Princess Kate will travel alone to the Harvard University Center on the Developing Child to soak in some of the best practices that she can apply to her own Royal Foundation and The Centre for Early Childhood as she expands her trailblazing work in the field. The John F Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum will be visited by Prince William in the meantime.
