Middleton took the occasion to pay a subtle tribute to her late mother-in-law with the outfit as she wore pearl earrings that were gifted to Diana before her wedding to the-then Prince Charles in 1981. The princess wore her brunette locks in the trademark bouncy blow-dry style. Moreover, her makeup was kept neutral along with thick eyeliner and nude lipstick.
Kate is known to fancy Emilia Wickstead dresses as she has worn them on several occasions. During the event, she also pinned The Princess of Wales’ Feather Brooch to her chest, and which was given to Diana by Queen Elizabeth upon her exchanging rings with Prince Charles. According to the DailyMail, Diana's favorite Collingwood earrings, which she sported on royal tours of Australia, Canada, and Italy, feature a teardrop-shaped diamond stud that is attached to an additional round diamond, and a bell cap set with three more rows of small diamonds. The bell caps each hold a pearl drop.
Diana was seen wearing the earrings before she landed the royal title. They were reportedly a gift from Collingwood which is a jewelry firm, a favorite of the Spencer family, as per the outlet. She sported them at several affairs throughout her marriage including with the black dress famously known as the "Revenge dress" which she wore while attending the Vanity Fair party at the Serpentine Gallery in November 1994 in London.
On the other hand, Charles III held his first state visit as monarch when he welcomed the South African president to the Royal Pavilion on the Horse Guards Parade. He was accompanied by the Queen Consort while he made presentations to the president as the South African national anthem was played along with the Guard of Honour giving a Royal Salute, as reported by the DailyMail.
