Prince Harry was 'all in' to host SNL during tour for 'Spare' but talks were canceled at last minute
MONTECITO, CALIFORNIA: Prince Harry was "all in" to host 'Saturday Night Live' in January ahead of his whirlwind US tour for his bombshell memoir, 'Spare.' The Duke of Sussex was in "serious" planning with producers of the long-running NBC show, as it would also have been great publicity for the release of his memoir.
Prince Harry did, however, appear on a number of other high-profile US shows, including 'CBS 60 Minutes' with Anderson Cooper and the 'Late Show with Stephen Colbert.' Although producers were pleased to have the royal on board, there was no particular reason why the Duke turned 'SNL' down, but it was revealed that talks appeared to fall through at the final hurdle.

'Surprise in a sketch!'
One industry insider shared insights saying, "I know that Harry was all in. He was really serious about doing it — and it would have been great fun as a promo for the book." "SNL producers have been after Harry for a while. Everyone on the show was really into the idea, and people would definitely have tuned in," the source said, according to Daily Mail. Another insider confirmed the talks, adding, "There's always lots of names in the mix, but Harry was definitely a name being discussed."
Lorne Michaels, creator and producer of the iconic show SNL are so thrilled to have Prince Harry on the show even if it is not meant to promote his book. A third insider added, they could even star the Duke of Sussex as a "surprise in a sketch" if not hosting.
'He was lucky enough to be #Spared!'
However, Interent users were not pleased by Harry starring in SNL. One user wrote on Twitter, "He doesn't need to go on SNL for laughs. The late night comedy shows, Spare me, award shows, political shows, and entertainment shows are bringing the laughs already." Another added, "Very fitting, since he's a f**king joke." A third claimed, "Just can’t see Harry being humorous !.." A user mocked, "Well, he was lucky enough to be #Spared." "Calling BS on this one," read a tweet. A user mockingly said, "I would be willing to bet talks stalled because Megan thought she should be hosting instead."
