LONDON, ENGLAND: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s stepping away from their royal duties and deciding to shift to California, made Prince William and Kate Middleton’s children more prominent members of the royal family household, claims a new book.

The Mail, on Sunday, released an excerpt from the book written by royal expert Katie Nicholl, titled 'The New Royals: Queen Elizabeth’s Legacy and the Future of the Crown’. In the excerpt, Katie wrote the ‘Megxit’ not just impacted the image of the royal family but also "put a significantly greater royal burden" on the new Prince and Princess of Wales and their children.

Nicholl revealed royal historian Robert Lacey told her that the number of royal public appearances made by Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis is a sign that William and Kate have changed their parenting approach after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down from their royal duty.

"We've seen the children performing in front of the cameras in a way that cannot have been part of the original plan," he told Nicholl. "We know that William and Kate want to bring up their children in relative seclusion and privacy, but the children have had to become a prominent part of the show," he added.

The three royal kids delivered notable public appearances in 2022 including George and Charlotte's attendance at a memorial service for Prince Philip. Then the trio also attended the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June. Most recently George and Charlotte were also seen accompanying their parents at the funeral of their beloved grandmother at Westminister Abbey.

Earlier, it was revealed that Kate and Williams are taking every right step forward to keep their kids away from the spotlight. The prince and princess even moved from London to Windsor Castle to give their children an average life.

Further, in the excerpt, Nicholl revealed that William has not been able to forgive his warring brother. “If the departure of the Sussexes has been hurtful and upsetting to William on a personal level, the rift between the brothers has raised fundamental questions about the responsibilities of Royalty, about its purpose and value in the modern age,” Nicholl said.

Earlier this week, Sussex’s close friend Gayle King revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex returned to their home in California without mending ties with brother William, father King Charles, and other royal family members.

During this period, royal well-wishers saw several rare displays of public unity between Harry and William. He and William stood side-by-side with their father, who was devastated by the death of his mother. Harry and Meghan delivered a number of rare joint appearances with the royal family. The couple was seen reuniting with the Prince and Princess of Wales for a walkabout during which they inspected the floral tributes from the royal well-wishers for the Queen.

However, all these efforts went in vain as the royal brothers were no closer to 'mending' their relationship despite spending more time together.
