Prince Harry was ‘morbidly obsessed’ with keeping all details about Archie's birth private, claims book
LONDON, ENGLAND: Royal Expert, Katie Nicholl in her new book, 'The New Royals: Queen Elizabeth’s Legacy and the Future of the Crown,' claimed one of the sources revealed to her, Harry as being "almost morbidly obsessed" with keeping Archie’s birth as secret as possible.
Nicholl wrote in her book, "One source described Harry as being "almost morbidly obsessed with keeping Archie's birth as secret as possible." The book further stated that the quest for secrecy about Archie's birth allegedly breached an “unwritten contract between the royals and the public," who were eager to understand the new royal family member's arrival.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ‘left furious’ as Archie and Lilibet are denied HRH status
The usual protocol after a royal birth is such that the father, mother, and newborn baby pose for photos on the steps of the hospital amidst well-wishers. They eventually will answer a few questions from the media before driving away. However, the book claims that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wanted to change such protocols. According to honey.nine.com, Catherine, Princess of Wales greeted the public within five hours of giving birth to Prince Louis. She has followed similar protocols for her elder children as well.
Princess Diana greeted the public outside of the hospital one day later post the delivery of Prince William and Prince Harry. Nicholl further wrote, “Harry had always enjoyed outfoxing the media, he and Meghan were thrilled to be safely delivered of their son in London’s private Portland hospital even before the palace press office had confirmed the duchess was in labor.” According to PageSix, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born on May 6, 2019. However, after two days Prince Harry posed for a photo with a single reporter to ask questions.
The writer then wrote, “But it all felt stage-managed, with pre-approved questions, one journalist, and one photographer, It demonstrated the growing gulf between public expectations of Harry and what he felt obliged to give.” Nicholl also explained that though "Sussexes may have served an ace in their quest for privacy and tore another page out of the royal notebook,” they also damaged the Royal family's relationship with “the press, the broadcasters, and by extension the public, who felt duped by the experience – whether that was a fair expectation or not.”
Duke and Duchess of Sussex further did not reveal the names of their godparents and had a private christening ceremony for their children. According to PageSix, Prince William’s wife, Kate Middleton has previously stated that she found the post-natal photo shoots difficult. However, Nicholl stated that Princess of Wales “acquiesced because she will one day be queen and the mother of a king, so there was a legitimate public interest.”
