Prince George turns 9! Young royal looks cheerful on beach in adorable pic released on birthday

'He is William's twin,' a user commented on George's picture, which was reportedly clicked by his mother Kate Middleton during their recent vacation to a UK beach

Prince George looks happy with his hair tousled in the official photograph released to commemorate his ninth birthday on Friday, July 22. The photo was taken by his mother, the Duchess of Cambridge, 40, during a family vacation to a British beach earlier this month, after George and his siblings, Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince Louis, four, had broken up from school.

George, who is said to be growing up into a happy, polite, and contented boy who is ''obsessed'' with football and loves being out and about in the fresh air, posed in a polo-style top with a sandy shoreline and water behind him in his birthday photo. He's also made several public appearances recently, including a trip to the Wimbledon Men's Finals, as part of a gradual transition into public life.

This summer, while attending the men's Wimbledon tennis final with his parents, George, along with Kate Middleton and Prince William, greeted ball boys and girls as well as military personnel in the Millennium building. George was also asked who he would support and appeared too shy to respond, so William looked at him and whispered ''Djokovic,'' adding, ''We'll see how long it lasts. He'll back the winner.'' The trophy won by Novak Djokovic was later held by the young prince.

As George's photo surfaced on social media, people couldn't hold back from reacting to the young prince's cuteness and wishing him on his ninth birthday. "He is William's twin", a user tweeted.

"He's such a cute kid. A dead ringer for his father, too", another user wrote. 

One user wrote, "Have a very happy birthday, #PrinceGeorge! So grown up and handsome. I remember being glued to the TV when he was on the way". "How is this the same Prince George bc I swear he was still 5 ???!", another wrote.

One user wrote, "Wills? Dat u???? In all seriousness hope he keeps that unfiltered joyous smile! Happy birthday george".

George and his sister Charlotte have now graduated from Thomas' Battersea Prep School in south-west London and will begin a new coeducational prep school in Berkshire with their younger brother Louis in September. The Cambridges will begin a new life in the county in the coming weeks, moving to Adelaide Cottage on the Queen's Windsor estate to settle in before the start of the academic year. Furthermore, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's relocation to Adelaide Cottage will bring them closer to the Queen, who is now residing at Windsor Castle, as well as Kate's family, who all live in and around Bucklebury, which is a short drive away.
